i find it humorous that most people on this forum will bash Obama and democrats 24/7 yet they fail to recognize the absolute train wreck it would have been to elect McCain and Palin. And the fact that some people still feel that she was the stronger candidate is simply mind blowing.

The republican party lost all their credibility when they thought it would be a good idea to have her as VP.

now i'm sure someone is going to point out again how bad Obama is and how much worse the country is with him in power... all i have to say is he's been in office for 6 months and its not like things just all of the sudden started going down the shitter.

Isn't that the truth!? The majority of the (R) substratum has become vapid.

As I said before, a typical self-centered politician, don't care what party they are from:

Quote:
Though Todd Palin told Fox News he built his Lake Lucille home with the help of a few “buddies,” according to Barrett’s report, public records revealed that SBS supplied the materials for the house. While serving as mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin blocked an initiative that would have required the public filing of building permits—thus momentarily preventing the revelation of such suspicious information.

Just months before Palin left city hall to campaign for governor, she awarded a contract to SBS to help build the $13 million Wasilla Sports Complex. The most expensive building project in Wasilla history, the complex cost the city an addition $1.3 million in legal fees and threw it into severe long-term debt.

With the Democrat's running the House and Senate all that would have happened is McCain would have taken all the blame. Now Barry is going to go down for all the crap coming out of the congress. Obama is their flunky.

George Bush was an Einstein compared to this idiot we elected.

This countries economy went into a train wreck about six months after the democrat's took over the House and Senate. They say the recession started in July 07. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid took over Jan 02, 2007.

You wanted Change, and you and others like you got it.

Like the saying goes "Don't wish too hard you might just get what you wished for."

The best part the average Democrat voter is finally getting it that they were lied to by the Democrat party and the MSM media.

Like the post I put up on cable viewership. ABC,CBS, NBC are posting their worst viewership numbers in history. All the liberal news papers are in serious financial trouble. Yet the conservative newspapers are not losing their readership or advertising. Hummm Maybe the advertisers are not going to finance their own demise. Why would anyone advertise in a paper that hates capitalism and them, just because they own a business?

You do realize that the cause of the ammo price jump and shortage was not Obama and friends, right? As far as I know, Obama has yet to sign into law anything restricting the amount of ammo that gun stores can carry, or that manufacturers can make. However, I do know that the GOPNRA fear machine spent a good deal of time convincing idiots that Obama's hordes of gay atheist Muslims were going to break into peoples homes while they were at church and steal their guns while destroying their Traditional American Family Values. And then said idiots went out and bought everything gun-related in a big panic after Obama was elected, triggering prices increases and runs on guns and ammo... leading to rational people having to then jump through hoops to get enough ammo to shoot. At any rate, the fact that one can't find ammo is 90% the fault of the people claiming to protect your rights. Ironic, eh?

Anyhow, I think the most puzzling thing about the Palin resignation is the lack of a clear reason to do so. Hence, I'm led to believe that there are either some rather unethical activities that went on and/or are still going on, or that she is stupider than I thought she was. I mean, the "she and her family were being attacked" excuse doesn't hold water, as multitudes of politicians in both parties have gotten attacked... yet they generally seem sturdy enough to take it. I'm curious to see what's going to come out of this, as it certainly has a hint of scandal about it.

All of which without an awful lot more information proves zip. For one thing the statement:

Proves nothing at all. It is entirely possible to build your home with a few buddies - funny how buddies is quoted above - and still purchase building supplies from a building supply place. After all unless you expect them to make everything from scratch they need supplies from somewhere. If I lived in Alaska this looks like the type of place I'd be going:

http://www.sbsalaska.com/support/sbsruralsales.htm

Do they have Home Depot or Lowes in Wasilia, or is this the only place to go?

It also could be true that one of his buddies works for SBS, that still wouldn't make his statement a lie.

Personally I'm against most building permits, especially for private residences, I don't see how that is evidence of corruption. Often times permits such as these become the basis for corruption.

As for the Sports Complex, it wouldn't be the first time a government project had legal costs and overruns, hardly evidence of corruption. How many places in Wasilia and/or Alaska are qualified to build such a building? Should she have gotten people from out of state or out of town to do the work to save a couple bucks? Did she even have the final say in who the builder would be, or did she sign off on the local council or whatever they have in Wasilia decision?

Basically that news quote is a carefully constructed attack with little hard facts, and wording to tie things that are not mutually exclusive together to give the appearance of evidence not currently in existence or at least apparently not reported. Wonder why that is?

This is the entire article...

Quote:
Max Blumental reports on The Daily Beast that Sarah Palin may have quit her job today because she was trying to avert a major, yet-to-be-disclosed corruption scandal. The gist of the rumor is that an Alaska building company called Spenard Building Supplies (SBS) was awarded a contract by Palin to build a hockey arena in Wasilla, AK, and in return, SBS helped construct Palin’s home:

Many political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators have been seizing paperwork from SBS in recent months, searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home on pristine Lake Lucille in 2002. The home was built just two months before Palin began campaigning for governor, a job which would have provided her enhanced power to grant building contracts in the wide open state.

SBS has close ties to the Palins. The company has not only sponsored Todd Palin’s snowmobile team, according to the Village Voice’s Wayne Barrett, it hired Sarah Palin to do a statewide television commercial in 2004.

For SBS, however, the bloated and bungled project was a cash cow.

Alaska bloggers have reported in recent weeks that “a long simmering embezzelment/IRS scandal is still being looked at by the feds.” In her press conference today, Palin asked the public to “trust me with this decision and know that it is no more politics as usual.” But she also bemoaned “political operatives” who have “descended on Alaska” to investigate “all sorts of frivolous ethics violations.” Palin said this “politics of personal destruction” was one of the key motivating factors behind her decision today.

now i don't feel that i was lied to. i might not totally agree with everything that congress or the president has been doing but i don't think its going as bad as it would have if we would have elected mccain/palin.

i'll agree that congress is pretty much a joke and its been that way for a very long time. all the wasteful spending, pet projects, and just horrible ideas come from both sides of the aisle within congress. until all of these pretentious pricks start working together and drop the elementary school bickering things will stay they way they've been.

i also don't get all the "leftist liberal" conspiracy talk either. i consider myself very liberal on 90% of the issues and there really aren't many people in congress or the house that i feel i'm on the same page with. most the elected officials in washington are only a few steps in either direction from center. i would even say that over have the democrats are moderate conservatives on a lot of issues.
