Default Presidential Pardon Article

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here it goes....interesting little story, but I 'love' the second to last line. Got to give credit to those editors.
---

Danny Pue was among 14 people pardoned by President Bush Monday afternoon.

It's going to be a special Thanksgiving for the Pue family.

"It really wasn't so important to me as it was to my family," Pue said. "My poor little wife, she's been crying all afternoon."

Pue became a convicted felon in 1996 for the illegal treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals used to preserve utility poles. He was a supervisor for a creosote company at the time.

The Vietnam veteran did not dodge the bullet.

"I assume full responsibility for my actions and the people who worked for me," Pue said.

His punishment was six months of house arrest and a $1,000 fine.

Years later in 2003, Pue's daughter, Karen Flint, wrote the president for a college government class. She asked for a pardon, but didn't really expect one.

"You must have some pull, we're just everyday people," Flint said.

More years passed and then, unexpectedly, neighbors started getting calls from the FBI. They were asked about Danny Pue.

"He was so honest," neighbor Amy McCullen told them. "He took the fall."

Family members didn't learn about the pardon until Monday night.

Pue, an avid sports shooter, is looking forward to being able to own a gun again.

The actual pardon letter should arrive in a week.

I didn't view the video, just read the article.

And the sports shooter has what relevancy to the article?

Clinton would have given him one too, if he had an extra $250,000 laying around.

I'm not familiar with this story, so I can't really judge the magnitude of the violation. But it must not have been very much if it was only 6 months house arrest. What it does is bring to my attention (again) how much piddling crap has become a felony these days. It's getting to the point I could lose my right to own a gun for jay walking.

Presidents used to pardon hundreds and thousands of people when they left office.. Clinton pardoned some normal people as well, along with the usual bankers (which Bush did too) Along with some drug dealers and normal users..

Bush pardoned some decent normal people and I appluad him for that, but he also pardoned some of the rich too.. Every president does that

Personally I think all drug laws other then ones that harm other people should be removed.. But the if someone gets hurt, or you put others in danger you get nailed to the wall.

Example

Legal : Smoking/snorting/whatever you want in your own home with no children in the house.

Illegal : Smoking up, and then driving, or beating your wife, or other violent crime.. Ya you're getting some lovin from Bruno in Lampa...

Personal responcibility.. Plain and simple.

Yes, yes, and yes. Write to him, write to him again, call into the numbers you can find for the White House. If a pardon is not an option he can (fuck I can't think of the word where he let's them out and says "time served" is it commute?) at least get them out of prison. That whole story makes me sick to my stomach.
