With so many threads discussing everyone disdain for our new president elect, and then now we have threads dicussing peoples disdain for these threads, i feel its nessasary for myself to stand up and say YEA i did it.
Now heres why. I used to consider myself a republican because i was raised that way. But when i became old enough to understand that i can make these decisions myself and that i didnt always agree 100% with either party, i became an independent. (Independence has a nice ring dont it?) Now my veiws still genereally lean republic on alot of things. Im strong 2nd amendment, IM on here everyday as well as a few other firearms sights, I drove clean across the state to support one of our members, i love my guns and i love my Country. Lets get to the candidates. John and Obamma. Well im familiar with McCain and think he could to the job of president well. I like that we know what to expect with him, he has strong experience, great leadership and will do his best for this country. But i dont like his plans for energy. I doubt his willingness to get the issues in the middle east resolved, and i dont think he is willing to do enough about education and at 70+ i doubt he is very connected to our younger generations desires for the nation. Obamma.. well didnt know much about him at first but i was interested in what he was saying. He had a plan for health care from the get go that he shared with the nation details on how to get it done and how it would work. He had the vision of energy independence and a plan to get there. (did i mention i think drill baby drill is the dumbest idea ever) I liked alot of the things he was saying, but i like alot of people doubted the possibilities of such radical change that he was proposing. I do not agree at all with his gun policies and i question his decision to pic Joe Biden for V.P. Joe Biden, wrote the assult weapons ban (he says), he wrote the rave act, which for a time but my business in jeopardy if someone came into the club with illegal substances. But I think the man is trying to be tough on crime, just on a misguided level. I think he has the experience though to do the job of VP. Sara Palin... Are you kidding me? Yea she has a personality that captured the nation. She lives a "soccer mom" life that many people can relate to, and has a great personality when she's not being a b*tch. But on top of not having the experiance at ALL to do the job of VP, she doesnt have the knowledge to do the job. Disagree with me all you want, you only lieing to yourself. I see why McCain picked her. It was a good strategy. But SHE couldnt hack it and that (imo) is why McCain lost by a landslide. I tried up to the last minute to find enough reason to not vote for obamma because the second amenment means so much to me and seemingly so little to him. But I like his other ideas a lot. Do i think he can do it? well we didnt think he could become president did we? So yes this time i had to put some other issues first, that individually are not as important as the 2nd A., but together outweigh it. We can stand up to do something about gun rights. What can you do to fix the economy? What can YOU do to solve the energy crises? What can you do to get our troops home from the middle east? Education? The answer is nothing. Theres nothing you can do to change any of that. IF this man obamma thinks he can.. Im willing to let him try. But when it comes to gun rights, who's opinions do you think he's more willing to listen to.. those who support him everywhere else? or those who never did? Politicians dont like to lose support, but who cares about support they never had? Hate my decision if you want to. But thats the one i made. Call it personal sacrifice for the good of the nation. If Obamma fails, THEN and only then can you blame me. But what if he can do it? What if his ideas and programs work? Im not selling out the 2nd, I'll be standing here protecting it till my last breath if necessary. Ultimately is not just goverments job to protect the constitution, its ours as well. The election process is not about what you want for you, its about what you want for all of us. |

As for the economy, the way to fix it is to quit messing around with it and let it all shake out! Anything else is just postponing the inevitable fall, and it will be much harder. |

my apologizes to the mods. If they want to move this to one of the other threads, i have no objections.
To be honest i dont read most of the political stuff on here anymore because it appears to me that too many people on here may have voted solely on this one issue. |

I think its funny you voted for a candidate whose name you cant even spell properly.
Way to research.

If you read around here, you'll see that people didn't vote on just one issue. It just happens that this forum is a firearms related forum, so that is a priority issue to talk about on this site. Other issues were a deciding factor as well.

Don't even f'in go there. Seriously. Someone else tried making that accusation before, and it did not go over well. I don't think you'll find many people at all here that voted solely on the 2A. You're on a GUN FORUM. Of course that's the main thing we talk about in regards to Obama. Does that mean we are all one issue voters? NO! Was the 2A an important part of my decision to NOT vote for Obama? Fuckin' right it was. But I think I speak for many here when I say that I don't trust Obama to do ANYTHING good for this country and the 2A was not the only influence over my decision. Jesus Christ, these people are going to give me a stroke this week. ETA: It's Obama, not Obamma. Also, if you're going to enter into a discussion where you know damn well you're going to be vastly outnumbered, try to employ SOME proper grammar. You'll at least seem somewhat educated. Not only did the BS you were spewing make my head hurt, sludging through your grammar almost made it explode, and made it even more difficult to take you seriously. Not that I take many Obama supporters seriously to begin with. /rant. I'm going to the range. I need to sling some lead. I've head a massive headahce ever since Tuesday night.
