she's definitely the prettiest picture on either ticket.

so, let's see, she's also in a union, was a blue collar worker, her husband is in the Steelworker's Union, she's a self described "Hockey mom", and she's a hunter & fisherwoman. Yes, she sounds like a Pennsylvania kind of girl.

She's also a conservationist who believes we can (and should) drill in Anwar and that we can do it without destroying the environment.

I think I'd have to say I'd rather vote for her than McCain, but being his VP will give her valuable experience and possibly make it so that she's our first lady president.

This was it for me. I was not overly enthusiatic about McCain (inspite of him being a nice Irish boy married to a younger woman who owns a beer distributorship), but naming Sarah Palin as VP instead of one of the washington "in-crowd". I'm off to order a yard sign and bumper sticker. Sadly, state civil service laws keep me from doing much more.

Cordially,

Eric
Eric, where you getting those signs? I think I need a few also!

Ya she seems to fit right in with the current (R)'s.

The scandal began on July 11, when Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan was fired from his post with little explanation, a move that quickly raised questions in Alaska.

A few days later, Monegan came forward, stating that he had been pressured by those around Palin to fire Wooten -- but had refused to do so -- a choice that he believes led to his sudden dismissal. Palin denied Monegan's accusations, and a Legislative Council has appointed a special commission to probe the matter.

Never said that, I was merely stating the reasons I believe she was chosen by McCain, and why those that are seen as traditional conservatives would be more comfortable voting for McCain. Search my posts, you'll see that I believe firmly in Ron Paul's ideologies and what he proposed as policy; but that subject is off-topic for this thread.

Yes, thank you. I'd rep you for the support but I have to spread the luv.

And as the sitting Governor of Alaska, her opinion on this issue will carry a lot of weight. Relative to all the other candidates (including McCain) that think they understand the problem, the ANWR is in her "backyard". It will be difficult for Obama-Biden to challenge her on this issue given her tenure and the fact that they've probably never been to Alaska.

Regardless of my own beliefs regarding the ticket, it's great to see that this has motivated you to participate in the process.

I'm excited!! This woman not only represents what we stand for here in Pa. with hunting and guns..she represents a lot of Americans in what we all stand for.
I wanted Romney first...a woman second. I didn't know anything about this woman until today..and it's actually a better pick then Romney.

I didn't think this type of Political woman existed!! Thank god!

I see this a little differently. First off, the Palin for VP idea has been pushed since February of 2007 for the same reason Lieberman and Pawlenty were considered. The GOP is stereotypical old white men which do not appeal to the younger voters or female voters. The more they keep putting old white dudes in there, the more "out of touch" they appear (and rightfully so.)

Look at this year's choices and I believe this was a process of elimination too. Romney? Oh hell, the far right already started screaming "Mormon" before it got interesting. On top of that, Dems already had their ad campains set up to blast commercials showing Romney bashing McCain just as McCain showed Biden bashing Obama.

Next, Lieberman.. not going to happen. He's too left and the core of the party would be split worse than Obama / Clinton.

Pawlenty? He's not that popular in his own state but he does bring youth. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any appeal.

Ridge? Can't you just see all the jokes about the Homeland Security colored charts? He would be associated with all kinds of negativity as a carry-over of the Bush administration.

Huckabee Hound? C'mon, way to pull in women and youth.

Palin? What about a female maverick who isn't afraid of dismissing party loyalty by throwing her own under the bus? A woman who chose to give birth despite knowing the child would be born with downs? A woman with one of the highest approval ratings of any governer in the country? My point is that saying she was simply chose to pull Hillary voters is not accurate in my opinion. I believe she appeals to core conservatives with her pro-life, pro-gun stance, she has a history of integrity, and she can appeal to youth and female voters in swing states. This year, Alaska is a swing state.

I see her her not getting the credit she deserves when we simply discard it as "pulling Hillary votes" unless you preface it with an indication that women don't simply vote for women. Palin is one hell of a female role model and I'm excited about the prospect of the first female in the white house being a classy one with views I agree with.

I've been following it all morning on the Patriot Channel. I got chills when I found out it was Palin. She is the perfect choice. I would not have been happy with anyone else... Other thatn Rice which was a looooong shot. I've been reseaching her for months and there is nothing in her past that would be any issue.
