On board with the pick but she seems like she could say just about anything at anytime. I like that myself.

Libertarians and conservatives have a lot in common, libertarians just go further to the right than conservatives. One thing to clear up is that not even Barry is calling for a total withdraw from Iraq. I think only Paul is doing that.
Libertarianism is related to the actual conservatives that once were, to the idea of conservatism. But there's aren't many true conservatives left in government (Ron Paul is more of a Conservative Republican than nearly anyone else in the Federal Government). Those conservatives were pretty much replaced by big-government, big-spender, big military industry, interventionist bible-belting Rhinos and neocons. Conservative used to mean what libertarian does now (for the most part), now it's all about pro-life, pro-God, pro-police state, sacrifice liberty for safety, pro-interventionism, pro-corporate welfare...all at the hands of the FedGov and all at work to trample individual liberty. Libertarians aren't more to the right, they're more to the center in a manner of speaking, taking the pro-liberty positions from both the right and the left (think ACLU meets the NRA/GOA/JPFO), which is where we should be (and would be without all the of the special interests controlling their puppet legislators and unaware of self-serving people voting for them).

And Bob Barr is most certainly calling for getting out of Iraq, I think he’s been pretty clear on that:

Edit: I may have misunderstood, I guess Barry = Obama. But when talking about libertarianism and conservatives, bringing up Obama just didn't register. I won't vote Obama, that doesn't mean I have to vote McCain.

What I heard him say last night is that we are there and need to make every effort to get our troops out of harms way in another country, but it didn't sound like a total withdraw. It sounded like there was wiggle room to keep some troops stationed in the region.

Barr is a conservative running on a Libertarian ticket, Paul is a libertarian running on a Republican ticket. That's what I've heard, anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what Barr has said is that he would not disclose a time table to our adversaries and that without the removal of US troops and money, the Iraqi army has no incentive to do things on their own. It's not a drastic as Paul's "get out of Iraq tomorrow" rhetoric, which even he admits is impossible but agrees with in spirit, but it's the same net effect. I don't really like Barr all that much personally, he's not quite as libertarian as I'd like to see on the actual "L" ticket, but I'm no expert on him. Even still, thinking that he doesn't want or support the removal of or a severely drastic reduction of US forces in Iraq is probably being a little loose with reality. This is not comparable to McCain's plan to stay in "as long as it takes" for a hundred years if need be. Obama, I think, is just playing lip service to the Iraq withdrawal crowd, I doubt if he were elected that our troops would be home any time soon, he doesn't seem genuine on the issue, it's more of a party issue in opposition to Bush, McCain and the neocon RHINO circus.

I'm not familiar enough with the Alaskan wildlife to know if this is a moose/elk/reindeer or whatever, but she's a hunter. Mmm.

And she apparantly has the all important "Viking" voting block sewn up.

Plus as a former beauty pagent winner,

she's definitely the prettiest picture on either ticket.

so, let's see, she's also in a union, was a blue collar worker, her husband is in the Steelworker's Union, she's a self described "Hockey mom", and she's a hunter & fisherwoman. Yes, she sounds like a Pennsylvania kind of girl.

She's also a conservationist who believes we can (and should) drill in Anwar and that we can do it without destroying the environment.

I think I'd have to say I'd rather vote for her than McCain, but being his VP will give her valuable experience and possibly make it so that she's our first lady president.

This was it for me. I was not overly enthusiatic about McCain (inspite of him being a nice Irish boy married to a younger woman who owns a beer distributorship), but naming Sarah Palin as VP instead of one of the washington "in-crowd". I'm off to order a yard sign and bumper sticker. Sadly, state civil service laws keep me from doing much more.

Cordially,

Eric

Let's not let race and gender cloud the fact that C. Rice is an absolutely phenomenal person. Rising up from being a black girl who's family's life was under constant threat in Birmingham Alabama during the late 50's and 60's, to graduating high school at the age of 15, earning a bachelors degree at 19, and then going on to earn a masters and PhD. Amongst many of her non-political achievements, she's an accomplished concert pianist and was a professor at Stanford University. Even if this woman never stepped foot in Washington D.C., she'd still earn a spot as one of the most admirable woman in history.
