Her being relatively young for political life also helps relax some of the concerns about McCain's age and health.
There is a fourth group you forgot. Truely conservative Republicans who will be more comfortable now that there is a balance to McCain.

I didn't list that group because IMHO the truly conservative republicans were voting for him anyway, despite their misgivings. They may not like McCain, but to me it was a foregone conclusion that they would hold their noses and pull the level for McCain, because the alternative is way worse.

I do agree that from their perspective, this likely makes the stench a little more palatable.

Agreed. I've read up a bit on her, as Michael Bane had posted an article about her on his blog awhile back:
http://michaelbane.blogspot.com/2008...rah-palin.html

UPDATE: The blog post just references her, I can't seem to find the article I read; I'll update if I can find it.

To be honest, I actually like her as a candidate more than McCain himself.

Second that. I would REALLY like a Palin/Steelman ticket in 4 or 8 years. Sarah squared and both pretty easy to look at.

Steelman is in Missouri (http://www.sarahsteelman.com/) she has a really cool story. Look her up. I think we may be looking at the first woman president with one of those two. I have a crush on both Sarahs. My wife was laughing at me about being fawn eyed over them both.

Yeah that's how me and the wife are too. I was/still am on the fence about McCain, but Palin makes it easier to swallow. I really like Barr because he is truely conservative. He isn't as far to the extreme as Ron Paul, but somewhere between the hardcore Libertarians and the true conservative GOP. That's sort of where I fall too so I really have a hard time. Funny thing is Obama-lama-ding-dong and Buh-bye-Biden are trying to say McCain doesn't have a record to stand on (umm 26 years is a bit of a record, I do't like the whole record, but it is a record) and that Palin is too inexperienced (hello happy hipocrasy!). I really really want to see those two cock knuckles get slammed in the polls.

Good news! It's kinda funny tho. I specifically remember her saying in an interview with Glenn Beck (i think) saying that she did not want to be VP because she has too much she wanted to accomplish in Alaska? Oh well. I'm glad she changed her mind.

It was Beck and he just played the interview again. What she said was to the effect that if she were asked today (back when the interview was held) she would say there was too much to do in Alaska, but that she knew there was also much to do in Washington. She left the door open.

You mean there are only two candidates running for president this year, and McCain's ticket must be the pinnacle?

Not what he was saying. He said Palin was a choice for 3 reasons and he left the true conservatives (not libertarians) would "come home" when they vote even if we are pissed because at the end of the day we can't take a chance to let Barry O get in. That was all.
