Congressman Rick Boucher is one of the deciding votes on the committee that will decide weather or not HR 1022 (the new AW ban). His office phone number is 276-628-1145. If you are of voting age and would like to voice your opinion against this ban. Call his office and let them know that you understand he has a key vote on this bill and that you would like for him to kill it. The secretary is very nice and she will pass along your concerns.

I have such a difficult time interpreting these bills, and I'm a little confused about some things.

I got to wondering about this today: what happens if some parts break on our rifles, will we still be able to buy replacement parts? Or is this bill banning every single part of the so called "assault rifles", or is it only referring to the receiver?

I have big concerns with this. I have a Saiga rifle and would like to turn it into an ak47, legally and in compliance with 922. But something tells me this bill would make my gun illegal. If i have the gun fully converted and everything, and then the bill passes, do I still get to keep my gun?

Also, scary part is that the first link said that more supporters hopped on the band wagon after the VA massacre. Those bastards.

Its getting tot he time when I think the 2nd Amendment needs to be excersized in its original intent.

Ive said it before, and I will say it again. This insult on our god given right will not stop until gun owners take to the streets in peaceful (but armed) protest, much like in the civil rights movement.

Who will stand up and be our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.?

(dont wait on him to come from the NRA either.. aint happening. That would be like Bill Gates leading the Mac revolution)

This thread was originally posted February 15th, 2007.
My post is being made on 1/9/2009. I am resurrecting this, because it is back. AND IT IS F#$*ING IMPORTANT, CONGRESS MAY VERY WELL PASS THIS.

The submission is H.R. 1022 by New York Democrat Carolyn McCarthy and 67 co-sponsors. It was introduced in February 2007 and the next month referred to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, where it has stayed.

But that could change in the 111th Congress, sworn in today. And Korwin said the plan would allow the U.S. Attorney General – possibly Holder – to add to the list of guns banned to the public any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."
"Note that … Holder … wrote a brief in the (District of Columbia) Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home," Korwin said.

I didn't want to create a new thread, since technically this is already being discussed. Please read that link. If you've seen the numbers and know the people in this congress, you know this has a good chance of passing.

It is NOT back yet. No new bills have been introduced in this congressional session yet. When one gets introduced that is the time to get everyone making calls. The only thing that this is doing is raising people's blood pressure with NOTHING to address. That article, which has been posted multiple times, has nothing solid in it, it is all supposition.
