Agreed. In my case I did actually want an AR, but my purchasing time frame was bumped up a bit by an opportunity that present itself, coupled with the concern that I may not be able to purchase one in the next few years if this election doesn't turn out right.

I bought an Armalite AR-10 and three AR-15 stripped lowers "just in case".
If you don't have the money for a complete rifle, get yourself a stripped lower or two.

I was just on the phone with the NRA. They said it was an almost dead issue,as they do not want Obama to have to vote on it, and show his true colors.
It should have died 1 week ago, but the finacial problem has kept them in session.

They finally pissed me off enough to do exactly that. No it wasn't my first choice in a weapon (I'm all about handguns), and no, I really didn't want to shell out for it, what with saving up for my annual Federal Income Tax Rape and illegal property tribute to the State along with artificially enhanced costs on damn near everything else, but I was just angry enough at the bullshit coming out of DC on this bailout that I went ahead and picked up the scariest-looking evil black AR carbine I could find this past Monday. She's beautiful; let's just hope the bastards don't try to make any ban retroactive. I'll bury the damn thing somewhere after I report it stolen. I just cannot take any more of this constant babysitting by busybodies in DC who wouldn't know self-reliance if it bit them in the ass. It really wasn't the most rational reason to buy a weapon, but damn it felt good.
