18 to own. 21 to purchase or carry. Don't know about hunting. BTW, the only way I could think to own (legally) at 18 would be a gift from immediate family.

I found your answer
Directly from the PSP (PA state Police) Who can apply for a Sportsman’s Firearm Permit? An individual who is age 18 or older and is licensed to hunt, trap or fish, or who has been issued a permit relating to hunting dogs, may apply for a Sportsman's Firearm Permit by submitting a completed application along with the required fee to the county treasurer's office. The permit shall be issued immediately and be valid throughout this Commonwealth for a period of five years from the date of issue for any "legal firearm", when carried in conjunction with a valid hunting, furtaking or fishing license, or permit relating to hunting dogs. The issuances of a Sportsman’s Firearm Permit allows the individual to carry a firearm if such persons are actually hunting, taking furbearers, fishing or training dogs, or are going to the places where they desire to hunt, take furbearers, fish, or train dogs during the regular training season, or returning from such places. A Sportsman's Firearm Permit is NOT a License to Carry a firearm concealed. http://www.psp.state.pa.us/psp/cwp/b...BCOB=0&C=70426 |

Please Note YOU CANNOT carry a semi-auto pistol while hunting. Supporting link above! |

which is stupid. Whats the difference between a DA revolver and a semi-auto pistol other than a few rounds capacity??

wait say that again? 18 to own it, but cant carry it? dont want to carry it concealed or anything, just hunting and to the shooting range.

One's semi automatic and the other is not.
While I guess a DAO Semi is technically the same type of work as a revolver, its refered to as a semi-? Thank god they don't require Single action revolvers, unless they do?! I'm not sure of that, you might want to check it out. You can't hunt with a semi-automatic rifle either! Last edited by exceltoexcel; November 11th, 2006 at 09:11 AM. |

You can "own" a handgun at 18 if it is passed on to you by a parent or grandparent.
You can take it to the range as long as it is unloaded. You can hunt with it while you are 18, provided it is not a semi-auto and you have a Sportsman's Permit. There is current legislation to allow the carry of CCW firearms when hunting, but it has not been passed yet. |
