I think you're correct on both counts.

It does not appear, from the oral arguments, that the court will rule that the second amendment is a "collective right", even the solicitor general argued this is an individual right.

Default Great exchange from the DC v Heller case!

This exchange cracked me up when I read this:

CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS: What is -- what is reasonable about a total ban on possession?

MR. DELLINGER: What is reasonable about a total ban on possession is that it's a ban only an the possession of one kind of weapon, of handguns, that's been considered especially -- especially dangerous. The

CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS: So if you have a law that prohibits the possession of books, it's all right if you allow the possession of newspapers?

It would be nice if they not only ruled it's individual, but also define restrictions as being only a background check required, and that to "bear" means open carry if that's what you want to do! Then the lawsuits can begin in MD to overturn the draconian BS gun laws we have! Oh I can dream...unless one of you has a quiet little place I can live in rent free in New Freedom.

As to betting on it in AC- NO THANKS- NJ can fall into the ocean for all I care. Worst gun laws than MD. Just like NYC needs to be it's own commie pinko nation, and Chitcago needs to be consumed by the lake. LOL

I didn't scan the entire exchange here to see if anyone has posted this before, but here is an interview with Alan Gura, the attorney who argued our side in DC vs Heller. And I wholeheartedly recommend Reason Magazine (www.reason.com) to all of you.

Is that like the old defense lawyers theory that the longer the jury is out the better chance of their client getting off (from what my lawyer says it runs pretty true BTW)

Not sure about that. If it is unfavorable, there are states who have made clear their intention to seceed from the Union. They may wish to allow time for the government to prepare.

LOL, I noticed the name of that place (New Freedom) on my car's navigation system last week as I left the (un)"Free State" of MD and returned to a TRUE free state via I-83 North. Pretty ironic, I thought, considering the widely differing views of gun rights between MD and PA.
