Default Re: DC v. Heller Oral Arguments Broadcast Tues 3/18

Very interesting, I've been toying with the idea of actually driving down to see the arguments in person, but I'm jammed up at work.

This pretty much solves the problem.

It's the just the audio recording -- you're not going to see the actual argument unless you go in person and can get a seat. The Court doesn't allow videotaping, just audio, and transcript (posted to the Court's website).

Even in the lawyer's lounge there is no closed circuit video -- just audio on a speaker if you don't want to sit and actually watch it in the courtroom for some reason.

I knew that...I've been sick the last few days and mentally just not really with it for other reasons...thanks for reminding me though.

The ruling in DC v. Heller is expected to come out in late June. I'm not sure is this answers your question or not.

no, I believe the Court has until the end of its term to publish its opinion. The Court is separate from the other two branches of government and politicians have "no" influence over its decisions.

allegedly...i personally believe backdoor promises get made in order to secure those positions...i hope im wrong...we need some judges who actually look at the law through the window of the constitution as our founding fathers intended!!!

Stupid question...I should have payed attention in 5th grade. Heres what I remember. The Legislative branch makes the laws, the courts interpret it.

From what I understand, once the court rules, the only way to change that is to appeal to a higher court or change the law.

What happens if the SC decides it's not an individual right? Is that it then? From now until the end of time, individuals have no right to keep and bear arms?
There's no higher court, and I think it's going to get awful chilly in hell before anyone 'revises' the constitution.

From what I understand, popular opinion says it is an individual right. If the worst happens, is there no way to reverse it?

Somebody please tell me I'm wrong...I'm scaring myself.
