My question is going to seem dumb but How long can the court sit on a decision before having to make a ruling >

The ruling in DC v. Heller is expected to come out in late June. I'm not sure is this answers your question or not.

Yep I was just wondering how long the politicians could delay the decision. As a way of circumvention the second

no, I believe the Court has until the end of its term to publish its opinion. The Court is separate from the other two branches of government and politicians have "no" influence over its decisions.

allegedly...i personally believe backdoor promises get made in order to secure those positions...i hope im wrong...we need some judges who actually look at the law through the window of the constitution as our founding fathers intended!!!

Stupid question...I should have payed attention in 5th grade. Heres what I remember. The Legislative branch makes the laws, the courts interpret it.
From what I understand, once the court rules, the only way to change that is to appeal to a higher court or change the law. What happens if the SC decides it's not an individual right? Is that it then? From now until the end of time, individuals have no right to keep and bear arms? There's no higher court, and I think it's going to get awful chilly in hell before anyone 'revises' the constitution. From what I understand, popular opinion says it is an individual right. If the worst happens, is there no way to reverse it? Somebody please tell me I'm wrong...I'm scaring myself.
