Lightbulb Supreme Court Takes No Action In D.C. Gun Case

Despite this report, the issue is far from over. If the Court decides to hear the DC appeal of the lower court ruling, the Supreme Court ruling could go one way or the other. If the Supreme Court refuses to hear the appeal, the lower court ruling overturning the DC gun ban will stand.

Supreme Court Takes No Action In D.C. Gun Case

posted 10:26 am Tue November 13, 2007 - Washington

The Supreme Court took no action Tuesday (today, Novemer 13th 2007) in the case involving the District of Columbia 's ban on handguns. The justices discussed the case at their private conference on Friday, but reached no resolution.

Four justices must vote to grant an appeal. The court does not always reach a decision the first time it discusses a case.

At issue is the capital's 31-year ban on handguns, among the strictest gun-control laws in the nation. In March, a federal appeals court struck down the ban as incompatible with the Second Amendment.

The next time the court could announce its decision about hearing the case is Nov. 26.

The case is District of Columbia v. Heller, 07-290.

I have been to DC more than once. It is a shame when you can walk streets in full view of your nations capital and fear for your life.

All I can say is that the criminals down there must have missed the memo on not being allowed to have guns. I mean look how safe Kalifornias laws have made Compton !!!

I am very pleased that finally these retarded laws are being struck down, it gives me hope that maybe we are on the beginning of an upswing for personal rights and liberty.
