No fingerprinting, and provided everything is in order (ie. application filled out properly, current DL) it is pretty much instant in Montco. See my thread in Concealed Carry for some more discussion on it.

OK...I live in Glenside, which is Abington Twp PD. Does anyone know if the Abington PD has "blank" local police background check cards that I can fill out and submit in the same visit, or do I "hafta" do a double trip to Norristown to get the "kit" check card.

As far as I know they SHOULD have them, but I would call ahead just to be sure. Though you will have to wait until Monday. Or just stop in and ask for a police background check card for concealed carry permit. I asked for it saying "LTCF" and they looked at me like I was crazy.

I went to the Abington Twp PD website and found the "Contact Us" link and typed in my query...the Deputy Chief himself...from his Blackberry...said that they indeed have the cards on hand and to stop in on Monday and ask the person in the "records room" for a blank.

I thought that was not only quick, but pretty damn nice of him to respond from his personal BB.

Went and dropped off my paperwork at Hatfield Tonwship PD for my background check yesterday. I'm waiting to hear from them and then it's off to Norristown.

Went to the Upper prov police station and they had all the forms, check card form and the form for the county. Was absolutly suprised. Have all the info just have to get down to the court house now.
