And come winter or bad weather the indoor range is a big plus (and the A/C in the summer isn’t bad either).
Why can't I compare the ranges? They all exist for the same purpose essentially. Private clubs hold events just as PPC does.

I feel the points in my arguement are valid, if the best the indoor range can offer me is climate control for that price, well I'm not enticed.

Also reichebrown makes a good point, I forgot to mention myself.

You can't do any type of REAL self-defense training whatsoever. You must remain still in one position and you must draw from the bench.

Drawing from concealment or from holster is something every person who carries should practice regularly. Standing in one position shooting at paper targets is better than nothing, but not nearly adequate in terms of being prepared. Another reason why I would rather join a private club than pay the expensive PPC membership, and STILL have to pay high hourly rates.

Hi,
At BRCV's monthly meeting, last night, one of the guys brought this discussion to the attention of the membership and as the club's rental coordinator, I said I would check in and see if there was anything we could do. As Reiche-Brown already mentioned, we do rent the range to various organizations, mostly local LEO and occasionally host training instructors. These groups generally use the club facilities during the week and have their own staff, equipment, liability insurance, etc. The only private groups who have rented the range during my tenure did so to use the club house for their meetings and gun handling was not an issue. In addition, we already hold trap and IDPA shoots which are open to the public on the first and second Sundays of each month respectively, which limits the days available for such an event which would likely have to be on a weekend. I would have to agree with the previous poster who mentioned that organizing such an event, which would include finding a day that is good for the majority of the participants, getting qualified people to volunteer to supervise, i.e. act as range officers, collecting funds for rental fees, shooting supplies, insurance, and refreshments, and then being at the mercy of the weather does seem like a daunting effort.

I would be interested in the shoot. Throw my name in there if this gets set up.
