There's a very good reason Main street is well patrolled by police, it's a HIGH CRIME AREA day or night. Not long ago there was a shoot out in the E Burg Wal-Mart parking lot, in the morning day light hours. If I was younger I would move.
It's mostly all younger black guys from NJ and NY, not trying to be against blacks, just stating facts.

Just go on poconorecord.com everyday and you will not believe some of the stuff that goes on here. I can tell you that the Pump N Pantry on Main St was armed robbed twice within a little less than a year.

Just try and be street smart when down here. Good luck.

People who think that way are morons. My friend tells me I would never need to carry a gun to walmart at night, then last summer some guy stops a gang initiation by defending his life with his own gun. Now the same friend tells me I'm an asshole for going to walmart past 8o'clock and I'm just looking for trouble because I carry a gun...

Where is the logic? I don't know.. He's very intelligent and going to law school, yet he still cant grasp what liberty means.
thats when you just hang your head low and shake it in disbelief...

Stroudsburg & East Stroudsburg are not the quaint little towns people pretend they are. Drug dealers, blood & crip gang members, prostitution, murder, shoot outs at Wal-Mart and ESU, robberies. The Mayor of East Stroudsburg was severely beaten with a baseball bat by gang members last year. And that is what I can think of off the top of my head.

Main street is patrolled because of the high crime rate not because the towns have money burning a hole in their pocket and decided to just waste it on police patrols.

These incidents happened in a very short time frame. If you are going to the Sherman for that concert you may want to think twice as this gas station is only 1/4 mile from it.

AAAHH Mayberry RFD

From Todays Pocono Record
An attempted robbery occurred at the Shell Gas Station and Convenience Store at 100 McConnell St. in Stroudsburg at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Two men entered the store wearing masks. One of the men walked behind the counter, confronted the lone store employee and demanded money

Also on Saturday about an a hour later than the robbery at the Shell Gas Station on McConnell Street, an armed home invasion occurred at a private residence at 1132 N. Fifth St. in Stroud Twp. Two male East Stroudsburg University students were at home during the 7:42pm incident.

The two occupants stated that they were inside the residence in their living room. Both victims heard that rear door open and shut. Upon investigating the door opening, both victims were confronted by two black males brandishing hand guns and wearing masks. The victims were ordered to lie face down on the floor while being held at gunpoint. Both victims were then robbed of certain personal items.

A rock was used to hit the gas station guy in the head. That shows that they will resort to anything to rob you. I am going to become anti rock!

Alleged armed robber gets shot by victim at East Stroudsburg Wal-Mart

An East Stroudsburg teenager probably never thought that his victim might have a gun when he allegedly decided to rob him Wednesday night outside a Wal-Mart store in East Stroudsburg. Joshua Eastman 28, of East Stroudsburg, was putting groceries in his car at 12:46 this morning when Reneau Jean Jacques, who was wearing a bandana over his face, pointed a handgun at him and demanded money, Eastman took out his wallet and blocked himself from Jacques with the car door. Jacques pointed the gun at Eastman's face, and he dropped the wallet and ducked, police said.

Jacques fired a shot that went through the window and nearly struck Eastman, shattering glass and injuring his face. He pulled out a gun, fell to the ground and fired toward Jacques. The two exchanged gunfire, with Eastman striking Jacques in the lower leg and foot. Eastman was not shot, police said.

Jacques ran, and police found him hiding in some nearby bushes with a handgun nearby. He allegedly admitted to trying to commit the robbery and said he found the gun he used.

He was treated at Pocono Medical Center for his injuries. He is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon on charges of attempted homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, crimes committed with firearms, recklessly endangerment and persons not to possess a firearm.
