A pile of cut down trees is not a good backstop, it's not much different than shooting into the woods, sooner or later after a lot of shooting there wont be many trees left.

Don't do it, you will be shut down.

What you need is a high dirt bank wothout a lot of large rocks in it. If someone starts to complain about it not being safe you will be shut down, even worst if someone has a hand full of bullets saying they came from your property. As long as you will have guys there with equpt do it right the first time.

Don't ever forget that there are not many locals left here, most left when the NY and NJ people came here. Some came here because it was a low crime and quite area, that was true many years ago, not so in this day and age, don't give the "city people" any reason to complain anout your shooting, it would also be smart to not do any shooting when it's dark.

This info comes from probably one of the last 70 year old locals left that has some land, it seems that everyone else sold out to the developers and left the area.

Yes I do, and it's been there a long, long time with no problems.

It's always best to do it right the first time, you will have all the equpt to do it right there on your land when you are buliding the house, if you are going to have a basement in the house they will have to dig a big hole, that will give you a lot of dirt, you now have the chance to set the range up the proper way for the direction of fire and if possable the sun. Don't give anyone the oppertunity to shut you down.

We use State Farm (on 611 south right in Mt. Pocono) for both our home and car ... had the cars with them for years and just switched the home to them. There prices are no higher than anyone else.

Thanks for the insurance tips guys.

Hey I was thinking over some of the things mentioned in the thread and it seems a lot of folks here are not to happy with the direction that Monroe County has taken. I was wondering what areas people would consider more desirable (and why). Thanks for any insights.

you could use it as firewood or have them timber it out and make some money on the deal...
