I've shot at Tripolis a few times. It is a very nice range. I believe that the cost to shoot is includes 1hr range time, 50 rounds of ammo, a target and rental of ears and eyes if you need them. The reason he includes the ammo is because you can only shoot frangable ammo at the range. And as far as I know you can only shoot ammo bought there. Still is a very nice place to shoot. I think it was like $30 for 45ACP its cheaper for small calibers.

I think its a crock because they are permitted to drive to it but it is located on state gamelands and should be acessible to hunters. The prison should have its own range or hunters should have an acess road to it. As far as the pheasants stocking numbers have been severely cut in recent yrs. Alot of hunters that hunt with dogs kill most of them.
I never knew there was a range back in there. Interesting.

I think both the game commision and the prison are happy not many people know about it. I have a friend who is a guard at the prison and I asked him about all the pistol shooting I kept hearing over there. He said they have to go over and shoot every month. I said well I hear them even when its raining and he said if its raining they are told put on their rain gear. Then I said well how come I never find any brass on the ground. He told me the responsible for every shell they fire. If I remember correctly don't think its a very long range 100yd. at most. I do remember some type of pavilion being there though. Anyone who wants to come over and check it out pm me and I'll be glad to show you where it is.

When you think about it, it isn't too bad a deal, especially on bad weather days, cost of gas, tires & oil. My wife goes to her religeous meetings at least one day a month for about 1 1/2 hours, and my club is right next door to BK.
About the only drawback would be the weight of the fangible ammo. I shoot 9mm & .40 S&W. Hold hi or low or whatever. I gotta pick up a new set of shooting glasses and test them out. What an excuse. Did you check out my website?

I shot in the Police League so it is a little less. You get a break if you are in a league. They also have a civilian league. I believe this gets the "discount" as well. Nice range, if I ever hit the lottery, I am building one of them, and you can all come for free Only if I hit the lottery though

As far as frangible goes, I actually choose to carry this ammo, when I am working, I like it. It is the same brand sold there (ICC) and the same brand Williamsport PD uses. No difference in point of impact. Maybe at longer distances, but out to 25 meters, it does not matter. I work armed, often at the Cellblock, all stone, so frangible makes sense.

I have not visited Tripoli's lately, I do not know how the increase in ammo prices have effected their prices.

I include the link to the website: http://www.tripolistriggers.com/indoorrange.nxg

Bacher, perhaps we should plan a group shoot at the range you mentioned. Let me know.

Be safe.

Scott

I am not taking on anybody currently. Most of my guys are former military or current law enforcement. Must have the 235, even law enforcement. Some of my guys are corrections officers also.

You are right up the road from me so you can come and shoot on the Sundays that we shoot. I am near Lairdsville Next Sunday is out, my Son has a Divisional Pinewood Derby in Lewisburg, but in the next couple of weeks, I will drop a note when we are shooting.

Be safe.

Pretty slow in here.... Thought I'd say 'Hi' since I'm new to the immediate area, just moved to Picture Rocks from Sullivan County (Berks before that). Hope to meet up with some of you at shoots at the various ranges in the future.

S.V.,
Keystone in Muncy is having an IDPA Match Tomorrow (7/26/08). I am not sure if you are familiar with them, here is a link to nepaidpascores.net . There is a link to Keystone's website on there. I will certainly keep you in mind when we do get a local shoot together.

Welcome to Lycoming County!

Be safe.
