Default Need some help with my bow skills please...

I'm practicing for next year and I can't seem to get this right. I have been shooting Easton hunter camo XX75 arrows with 100gr field tips. At 20 yards I get a group that is approx the size of the diamond you can make with your thumbs and pointer fingers. But they are about 2-3 inches high. So my questions are thus.

1. Is my grouping ok or should it be tighter?

2. Which way do I move the pins to bring the groups down?

Thanks for any input.

Move the pins DOWN.... But that sounds like a pretty good group to me. At 20 yds that would be in the pump! When you move the pins move them ever so slightly. Take a group of test shots and repeat until you are satisfied. Then when you are satisfied keep on shooting and make sure you keep getting the same grouping. I keep it up until I insert one arrow into the other!..

I said up originally, but after Dredly, I had to go out and actually look at my bow! ..Sorry bout that chief!

Thanks Dredly, I feel like a DORK now!

In archery you CHASE the arrow with your pins...

so for a high impact you move the sight up. (sorry wasn't thinking when I typed it) keep in mind pin separation and where it lines up in the sight housing.

and don't forget about the late season archery... you can hunt this year still :P

With that group you could hunt this year, just shoot 20 yrds or less and it's dead.

The best archery hunting is just starting now for whitetail buck. That grouping is good but high is not. Move your pins up then take a few practice shots and adjust accordingly. The big problem would be if you were hunting out of a stand at more than 20yds your arrow will hit high on the target even if your bow was tuned perfectly. If you hit high 2-3 inches now plus the arrow trajectory from being elevated you have a good chance of shooting over the back of your target.( Very frustrating!)

Cadence gave you the CORRECT information... you move the sight the same direction that the arrows are hitting... If hitting HI... move them UP... if hitting LEFT... move them left....

Again 2 inches isn't all that bad... could be just a constant TWITCH that is causing it... And like he said, if shooting out of a stand, always aim at the FAR side of the target ( deer ) ... in other words, aim at the point where the arrow will EXIT the target....that will help you from overshooting the target....

Good luck, and be safe......

Well, we seem to have 2 schools of thought on this. Some say move them up and some say down. Maybe its just me not being clear. So lets try again.

If I want to bring my hits down, which way do I move the site pin? The majority says down.

nope I mistyped it...

In archery you always chase the arrow...

Hitting high move your pin up,
hitting left move your SIGHT left.
Hitting low move your pin down
Hitting right move your SIGHT right

also a little bit of movement will do ya... try moving 1 mark at a time.

All you pins should be in a row vertically, if you are hitting L / R move your whole sight housing. not just one pin. if you find that you are hitting dead on with 20 and Left at 30 and even more left at 40 it means you typically have your rest out of alignment

chasing the arrow is correct. And if by some messed up event in the universe the arrows don't do what you want... move the sight the other way.

Up Up Up. If you move them down you will be losing lots of arrows!
