Default An opportunity presented itself, need help with obtaining a hunting license

I have an aunt and uncle that live just south of Whitetail in PA, just across the MD/Pa state line.

They offered to let me hunt on the 20-couple wooded acres they have and I think I might take them up on it this year.

The problem I'm having is navigating the PA DNR site and frankly, my head hurts.

Down here I can walk into just about any Wal-Mart and walk out with an appropriate hunting license. But I'm reading things on the PA site about mailing in applications and I don't really have time to do all that.

Would any of you know what a non-resident needs to do to get a hunting license in PA? I'm being optimistic and planning on purchasing enough/correct licenses to allow me to take 1 buck and 2 doe.

Any help is appreciated.

go there to buy your license online. you will want to send in for doe tage to WMU 2b. If you need help in the process PM your phone number and I will call you tomorrow and walk you thru the process. It can be confusing for a first time PA hunter.

On the PGC website, there is a blue box that alternates between "buy your license" and "report your harvest'. Clicking that should let you buy your general license online. Or you could scroll down and click on 'regional information" then click on a nearby county, that will bring up a list of issuing agents (Walmart etc).

The general license is good for small game, one buck, one fall turkey and one spring gobbler.

Depending on where you plan to hunt, doe tags may be sold out. There is another link on the home page for 'doe license update"

It is confusing. I followed the link you provided, but I'm going to be hunting in area 4a or 5a which are both sold out. I got to the point where I could purchase my license, but if doe tags are unavailable I'm not going to shell out $100 for the opportunity to take a single buck.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I can hunt down here for $35, but on public land.

I'll have to do some thinking.

But thanks to everyone who responded.
