I was at the cabin this week and went out three days. Got two bushy tails on Tuesday missed some the other days. Didn't see a single deer in three days.

Apparently I suck.. I set myself up in areas where there are a lot of acorns and those tree's with those green things with the walnuts inside. I didn't see a thing Tuesday or yesterday... Both days were pretty heavily hunted (a lot of cars and I saw some WCO's walking around) I had one of those squirrel calls and I did get some reaction but I couldn't locate them through all the leaves. Maybe I should just wait or find a different location....

Any suggestions?

I've always had more success with stalking compared to hunting from a stationary position. Last weekend I took my little cousin out hunting for the afternoon. We started around 3pm and hunted until dark. Anytime we go hunting we get about 20 yards between us and quietly push through the woods, stopping every so often to listen. If we hear them chewing or barking then we move in that general direction. A lot of the time we'll jump them while foraging on the ground and have to follow them as they jump through the trees. This is definitely easier with two people because when the squirrel circles to the opposite side of the tree it moves right into the other man's line of sight. Hopefully that helps some!

This technique works very well. It takes a few squirrels to get it right, but processing them is so fast once you master it. BTW make sure your knife is sharp to do this. Dull knives will make this process take 5 times longer.

forget the call.
if you get a free Sat. come over my way, you will need a scatter-gun, but there is a State Park here that has plenty of tree-rats.
