Default hunting with a mosin 91/30 question

wondering if i have to put some kind of stop in the gun so it will only hold three rounds? Or does it not matter how many rounds go into it. I know this sounds really dumb only because my 35 marlin and 760 hold more than 3 rounds. I Just want to clarify this for myself.

From my limited knowledge of hunting laws, I don't think how many rounds you carry, either in the gun or not, would matter(Except in shotguns). Of course you cannot use a semi-auto, which you aren't.

Again, I am not a hunter, so do not take my word for it. Someone with more knowledge than me will come along soon.

From my Hunting and Trapping Digest

In the General Hunting Regulations

"Firearms- Magazine Capacity: It is unlawful to hun small game, furbearers, turkeys, waterfowl or crows with a manual or autoloading shotgun uneless the magazine is limited to a two shell capactiy. A plug must be a one piece filler installed so it cannot be readily removed without dissasembling the gun or magazine."

In Big Game Regulations

"Lawful Arms and Ammunition"

Deer and Bear: Regular Seasons- 1) Manually operated centerfire rifles, handguns and shotguns with all lead bullet or ball or bullet desidned to expand on impact; 2) muzzleloading long guns of a type 44 caliber or largers or a muzzleloading handgun 50 caliber or larger and 3) long recurve compound bows or crossbows with broadheads of cutting design. The use of buckshot is not legal, except in the Southeast Special Regulations Area."

That's all that I see, I've never heard of a "magazine capacity" for a deer rifle

I would do that once, on state game lands, opening day.

Of course finding soft point 7.62x39 would be the harder task there, especially 75rnds of it

It would be cool and HP's would work. I bet the wardens would love seeing a flash hider and 75rd drum. But nothin they could do. And to get back on track hunting with a Nagant is fun and rewarding.

Yes you can use it. No mag cap restrictions. I've hunted with my 91/30, for deer and groundhogs. Missed a coyote two years ago on opening day. No fault of the gun of course, just poor shooting on my part. Take that piece of history out to the woods and shoot a deer.

I have sold quite a few M-N's for hunting. And, Joe, I do have 75 rounds of soft-point 7.62x54R.
