Default Target and Beyond

I was working in a farm field today down on the border of Allegheny and Washington Counties. Someone was shooting what sounded like a .22lr up in the woods on the other side of a peach orchard. Two rounds came zinging over my head. I was getting nervous but the shooting stopped. Always be aware of where your bullets may be going after they go through or by your target.

Glad you weren't hit by the bullets. It's crazy that some people shoot without looking beyond their intended target. Lot of wackos out there that are armed.

Stay safe.

I agree with aubie.

People like that only give anti's more ammo to label us all as bad, careless or whatever.

When I was about 16, my father and I were stepping out from the edge of the woods into a field during buck season and as we were about two steps into the open we heard a rifle being fired nearby and the dirt in front of me exploded just like I had seen in so many war movies.
We fell back against the trunk of a huge tree and my father proceeded to give the shooter hell for nearly shooting us. That part will remain clear in my mind till the day I die, but I can't recall what happened after that... I can't remember if the guy was shooting at a deer as it ran near us or if he had thought WE were deer... All I remember is my father using language like you use when you hit your thumb with a hammer!

You always need to be aware of where those bullets may be going.

I live in a valley, so I definatly know where mine are going. The folks on top of the hill? Well, they are dumb as a box of rocks. I've heard shot zipping over head a few times. Honestly, Im not OVERLY concerned, but the folks on the otherside of my valley should be.

I know this language and have the thumbs to prove it.

I too have had to "eat dirt" while tracking a wounded deer (not by me) in the Avella area. 4 or 5 guys were driving an area and the deer I was tracking ran in front of them and me.

Excellent shot that the one guy was, he finally put this buck down with 7 bullets. Both front legs shot out (it the only reason this deer was killed), couple hits to the gut and assend. bad
