Default PA Hunting License Information

Pennsylvania hunting and furtaker licenses are available at more than 900 issuing agents throughout the state. Seven Game Commission offices and 66 County Treasurer offices issue licenses year-round. More than 800 sporting goods stores handle licenses from July through January. There are several out-of-state issuing agents located in New Jersey, Ohio and Maryland serving nonresidents.

A valid license is required to legally hunt, trap, take or kill wildlife in Pennsylvania. Licenses are valid from July 1 through the following June 30. Hunting and furtaker licenses must be signed in ink and displayed on the middle of the back. License fees are non-refundable; licenses are non-transferable.

To qualify for a resident license, applicants must be domiciled in Pennsylvania at least 30 consecutive days prior to application and produce positive proof of residency. A valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle drivers license is the most acceptable form of identification certifying residency. If the applicant has not held a prior license, he or she must successfully complete a Hunter-Trapper Education Course. First-time license buyers must produce a valid Hunter-Trapper Education Card.

If you have any questions concerning hunting or furtaker licenses, please call or write to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, License Division, 2001 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9797, telephone (717) 787-2084. Our office is open Monday through Friday (except state holidays) from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Is it possible to get a Pa hunting license online?

I work the hours the Local Courthouse is open, so I can't really make it to get one.

Wasn't aware of that. I have a lifetime license so I don't have to get one every year.

You can mail in an application.

PGC Website

Follow that link and follow the instructions on that page. You might also want to look around the site in general. Pretty much any information you might need on hunting in PA is there.

Legally yes you do. Others have posted that they have gotten a license without taking the course. Mostly due to the fact that many license vendors are under the mistaken impression that you don't need the course after you're 18. The course is mostly common sense stuff, but it's required if you want to get a license, and let's face it...There are worse ways to spend a weekend.

A lifetime license? I've never heard of that. How do you get one of those?

Also, do licenses cost the same cost the same everywhere for a resident license? Wal-Mart wanted $20 for one and I don't recall them being that expensive before. I haven't bought on in awhile either though, so they may have gone up.

74Blazer, your signature indicates you are a marine. If you are still active, reserve, or within 6 months of your discharge date, you are not required to take the hunter safety course. (It's in the hunter safety affidavit section of the license applicaton)
