Regardless of age you need to take a Hunter Education class. Check the PGC website for a class near you.
Best regards, chalmitch

You should take a hunter safety course and I highly recommend it if you have never hunted before. But truthfully if you are an adult all you need is a driver's license and your SS# to purchase a license. I am not saying that is right, but walk into a store and they won't ask for your card unless you are a youth.
A resident hunting license is $20. If you want to archery hunt that is $16 extra, muzzleloader is $11 extra, resident bear is $16 extra. Here is the PGC web site for all the info you need: PA License

Other than that, the prices look good. If you want a complete list of prices go to this link: Hunting License Fees Also, if you plan on hunting doe, you will need to seperately submit a request for a doe tag in the WMU that you wish to hunt in. The first day they accept applications is usually in early August, and you'll definitely want to have your application there by then. Doe tags go fast, especially in WMU's in the northern/central part of the state. I get mine to 2G and they sell out of them on the first day. |

I know it is the law. But the reality is if you are over 18 and walk into Wal-Mart you are walking out with a license. In the last 20 years I have never once been asked for my card or an old license in PA. I only had to show it until I turned 16 and after that, never again.
I would never do it (I took my test at 12) and I never recommend it, but no sense in kidding ourselves and pretend it doesn't happen. BTW I already gave him the link to the PGC site for all the info on licensing in PA. I hope the OP does get signed up for a class and does the right thing.
