Default Russian Hog's with a Russian gun

I have the opportunity ( several months out ) to hunt big russian boar in Tenn. 350+ lbs. My wife wants to go as well. I am going to hook her up with the .35 rem Marlin lever gun and was planning to back her up with my SKS , semi's are legal. Let her get a hog and then take one myself with the SKS.

What is a good hunting round in 7.62x39 ? Everything I have is milsurp.

Or should I scrap the SKS idea and just take my 12ga with slugs....

I hunted hog in Florida while I lived there... I would advise you to take a round, probably soft point, you know the gun will cycle with.

Also, have a sidearm (or 2!) that starts with 357/44. Those buggers get mad if you don't take them in one. They will charge you and hunt you back.

otherwise, have fun!

I use my T/C Encore in .308 on hogs and have never had a problem, make the first one count. I am building a rifle to take to Africa in Sept. Its a 9.3x62 and i think I am gonna try it on hogs before I go.

My Avatar shows the latest hog with the Encore

I know I could just pay to go on a guided hunt, but since I don't have that kind of extra cash & still want to go hog hunting at some point at least once in my life...
How would one go about finding a good place to hog hunt without doing the paid guided hunt thing?

I keep hearing abut what a huge problem the feral hogs have become in southern States, & ranchers are paying people to come remove hogs from their land, so one would think they'd welcome hunters who are looking for places to hunt hogs.

I'd love to take a few days or a week to head to TX, make a new friend of a rancher or two, cull some hogs from the herd to relocate to my freezer, maybe take in a few of the historic sites & then back to life as usual... I just don't know where to begin when it comes to contacting some welcoming landowners in need of hog culling.

I'm so disappointed, I thought this was gunna be some sort of mail-order version of the 'gun babe' thread, based on the title.

If I ever go pig hunting, which I'd love to do, I'm going to use one of my Mosins. Probably my Polish M44.

My buddy shoots hogs with wolf and mil surp all the time out of his AK in Florida. He has never had an issue with them not dieing quickly.

Russian Hog's what? If we're talking about more than one hog, then we'd be talking about hogs (no apostrophe). But, since there's an apostrophe in the subject line, we're talking about possession. The Russian hog possesses/possessed something. What was it?
