Hunting on Public Property
This question came up as a result of the Mount Washington residents who are complaining to city council about bow hunters in the 268 acre Grand View Scenic Byway.
When my son took his hunter saftey course several years ago the instructor made a point of telling the students, and reaffirming what I was always told, that local officials and police have no authority to ban or post against hunting on public lands and that anyone who encounters resistance from such officials should immediately report it to the state game commssion or the state police.
Is that, still, the case? And if so under authority has the City of Pittsburgh banned hunting from public parks?

Re: Hunting on Public Property
I grew up in the South Hills. My boro had an ordinance, that prohibited the firing of a single projectile. BB, rifle, slug, arrow, crossbow bolt etc..... The police would see us walking into the woods and couldn't really do anything about it. Hunting per se was not illegal.
