Default Spare Parts for the AK

I love bragging about the unbreakability of the AK. But being a realist (Shhhh, don't let the AR guys here me say that) I was wondering what, if any, parts would be recommended to purchase and keep at home for the AK. If anything is going to break. What do you think it would be?

I just would like to have on hand what I will probably never need just in case of Obama or Zombies. (OK, so technically I guess they are the same, but you know what I mean.)

Not really too many parts in an AK LOL...I'd say to keep a recoil spring, fire control parts (trigger group) and a spare firing pin on hand? Other wise, it's a crap shoot as to what you'd need to replace.

I have never tore down one of my AK's yet. But that is coming. Anyway, is this stuff that I can replace myself rather easily? Or will I still need a competent gunsmith to do the work?

OK, let me rephrase that. I have tore down my AK. In fact it is one of the things that I love about it. Don't get much simpler than that.

But can I replace the trigger group and the firing pin myself?

btw, i still have about 7 parts kits around from when they were under $100 (and no, theyre not for sale ) so i have no worries on thet.

id reccomend seeing if you could find a reasonably priced parts kit to stash away. then youll have one of everything, jic

Well, since you won't sell me a couple of yours....

Any recommendations on best ones to get, and places to get them? Are any parts better than others?

I appreciate your info.

And next I am going to learn to totally tear down the AK. JUST IN CASE.

(This was on the motivational poster thread. But I love it, and it fits the topic a bit. Just needed to add "And replacement parts." to the end of the quote. Thanks goes to Jahwarrior for the poster)

last i knew (although they may be gone now) apex was the "cheap" source for romy g kits. they had "rusty" ones for 115. dont know how bad the rust is, or if you have the means to clean it (sand blaster would be best) but thats what id go with, mainly cuz im a cheap bastard.

if they still have the kits in a week or 2, i think im going to get one to cut up into another x39 pistol without dipping into my "good kits"
