Default help with a shotgun barrel

Ok here's my question. I have my first shotgun still and was looking at it the other day. It is a NEF pardner pump with a 32" (i think) barrel. I wanted another HD so i decided to cut the NEF down to 19" (enough play room for error +/- .5"). I used a dremel and a hack saw and then a block to even off the end. It looks good, feels good and i'm going to go shoot it later this week. Two problems though.

a.) i know you don't need a choke tube on an HD but is there any way to thread the barrel that is relatively easy and does not require a gunsmith?

b.) how can i finish off the top of the barrel so it isn't silver. Hi-Temp paint? Lead? i've read a bunch of different things and want to ask you guys first.

thanks in advance

Thread the barrel? Inside for a choke, or outside for accessories?

To fix the gray/silver steel coloring = pick up some Cold Blue bluing, or Dura-Coat or hi-temp paint.. any of which will work.

I'm sure it can be done.. however a replacement barrel would probably be cheaper than gunsmithing or machineshop fees.

I say you should have asked the questions prior to making the cuts....isn't that like getting the girl pregnant and then deciding if you like her?

Duracoat will work, but it's not nearly as durable as Norrell's Moly Resin or KG Gunkote...both Norrell's and Gunkote require the part to be baked, but it will hold up better than Duracoat.

yea.. i know. it was just something i kind of decided on a whim to do. It was my first gun and it's mostly taking up space so i figured i would try and make something out of it.
