Ok Series 80 firing pin safety removal.....
1. depress plunger with pin punch 2. using second pin punch depress back of firing pin 3. with firing pin depressed AND plunger depressed use pin punch in firing pin to remove firing pin stop. 4. point firing pin toward soft surface that will block/capture the firing pin and release firing pin plunger 5. point slide area plunger side DOWN on soft surface that will capture firing pin plunger and spring.. slap top of slide with rubber hammer or back of hand. do NOT go bruce lee at this time... 6. now you can remove extractor. reassembly in reverse order BUT...... hold down firing pin plunger and put firing pin in slide and press firing pin OUT of firing pin hole...NOW release firing pin plunger and firing pin is now locked to return firing pin stop start to depress firing pin with pin punch that is larger than the firing pin and with free hand press down on firing pin plunger. Make shure the firing pin stop is in position to be locked in place. Using your thumb press down on the firing pin stop until it can cover the firing pin and slowly remove the pressure on the firing pin until it locks the firing pin stop in place. release pressure on firing pin stop. to test firing pin stop..... without putting and pressure on the firing pin plunger attempt to depress the firing pin using a pin punch...the firing pin should NOT move. now apply pressure to the firing pin plunger and again attempt to depress the firing pin....the firing pin should now go thur the firing pin hole in the breach of the weapon. while the slide is disassembled use cotton ear swabs (Q tips) and or pipe cleaner to clean out all crevaces and holes....soak in break free or whatever mix you prefer. hope this helps |

Great! That worked! Thank you! All of the 80 Series junk has been stripped out, a frame slot filler installed along with a 3 finger sear spring and the trigger now feels a little better, at least I can tell when the disconnector resets.
I suppose if I were to go to a big match where all the guns are TI'd before entry, I might have a problem. But, I don't care about that. The only down side so far is no half cock so I might need a new hammer. |
