Have the rec. hard chromed wouldnt hurt anything infact its a darn good idea IMO ,I'm assuming you have the rec. off the barrel and trunion correct. Although I dont know the specifics on plating the process I would think to get that "high gloss gangster sheen" the chromed part has to be polished ,There is a place down near TurtleCreek called Armoly I believe that I had some parts hard chromed years ago, came out a semiflat brushed finish that looked alot like mill finish stainless

Don't worry DC....I decided not to go with it. It looks like a toy gun when done and that is not what I need. Maybe bronze plated or something like that would be nice but I think I will keep it the original finish and maybe get it re-blued.

When re-assembling the kit I, I bought 2 receivers, thinking, that I might bust one up. I therefor have a spare one and have been thinking about this for a long time.
The only thing I wanted chromed was the receiver.

This one http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...=145742873#PIC has everything chromed which makes it a toy gun IMO.
I thought that a chromed receiver with all the rest left original would look nice......NOT!!!

That's way too shiny for me. Just doesn't look right.

And possibly induce wear in places that you dont want.

On that line, would shiny chrome be good on places that should have some surface cohesiveness for oil or other lubes to stay put? Or would you want to only polish the areas that are outside?
