I purchased a flea-market Enfield just like you described, it was missing a lot of parts also.
Numrich had everything I needed and the prices were pretty good also. Now my Enfield looks just like it should have during WW 2. ![]() Link to Numrich: http://www.e-gunparts.com/ Link to Enfield #4 section: http://www.e-gunparts.com/products_new.asp?CatID=11954 For whatever reason, Numrich lists the Enfield under "SMLE" Good luck and post some pictures!

In addition to Numrich, try Hoosier Gun Works (link below)
http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog/enfield_4.html Sarco also has some Lee Enfield No4 parts (link below) http://www.sarcoinc.com/rifles.html I've bought stuff from both in the past. |

It will be a nice addition to the gun cabinet right next to my 1909 30-06 Mauser. Last edited by DragonslayerBob; 4 Weeks Ago at 08:04 AM. |

Forgot to add the pics.
But I have some questions. How can I find more info (value, history)about this gun from the markings, model and seriel numbers. Model number is No4mk1/2(F)FTR The odd thing is on the same surface slightly back under the rear sight, there appears to be another different model number that has been scratched out. That number reads: No4MK1ROF(F)4/43 Serial #: /52.CB24081AOn breach below model # On round part below safety it reads CB24081A Bolt no and Breach serial no's match right side on forward end of breach says England with a symbol below that looks like a crown turned side ways. On the barrel just ahead of breach there are several marking on the right side looks like P +9 On the flat space on top Looks like Crossed flags with crescent moon and asterick above and four other symbols that I can't make out On the left side closest to breach B 92 then A 59 then, most forward B 7 |

Hoosier gun works that Enfielder linked to is also a great outfit to order parts form....Sarco is a little hit or miss with shipping times.
You are misssing a few parts....but definitely rebuildable...my buddy has been hunting with a standard WW2 Enfield for years. More info on assemble and disassembly here...pretty detailed with pictures in PDF format. http://www.surplusrifle.com/no4/index.asp The ROF (F) marking on your rifle means Royal ordinance factory, Fazackerly. Wealth of history info here on Enfields. http://enfieldrifles.profusehost.net/main.htm If you click on the "General History" tab..it has production and id marking info. Hope this helps.

1. The fact that the less prominently stamped and striked out model number reflect to ROF(F)4/43 seemed to indicate Royal Ordinance Factory Fazackerly and manufactured in April of 1943. Why would this be struck out and a more prominently struck number slightly forward on the breach be added?(No4MK1/2(F)FTR) And what did FTR stand for?I'm quessing that at least the breach was original manufactured as a No4MK1 then later remanufactured or retrofitted as a No4MK1/2. Would that make sense? 2. None of the other markings seem to match up with the information contained in the links. It is possible that the markings were not solidly struck therefore distorting or making the mark unreconizable. I can't seem to find an issuance or ownership marking. I can imagine that these rifles were probably manufactured so fast that if the markings were hand struck rather than mechanically the the strikers or people striking the marks were probably somewhat careless with making a solidly struck mark? 3. Where the serial number is stamped on the breach it is preceeded by /52 then the serial number which matches the number stamped on the exterior of the butt stock ring and on the bolt handle. What does the /52 indicate? 4. Based on the other classifieds on this site it doesn't appear that the gun is worth a whole lot ($165.00 to $185.00). So it is probably worth more to me as a hunting weapon than for it's possible collectable or resale value. With that in mind I'm considering adding a shortened Sporter forward stock rather than the original forward stock and two top hand gaurd stocks. The pros being a more sporterized look and lighter weight. How would taking that route effect the gun's overall value. |
