Default AR15/10 trigger tip

I have used several different aftermarket triggers on my AR15/10 and learned one thing. You don't have to buy an expensive trigger in order to have a good trigger pull. Aftermarket triggers range from $88- to over $300. Just buy the JP spring kit and it will reduce your trigger pull down to around 4.5 lbs. Not too bad considering the spring kit cost under $10. It is a cheap modification and it works. It only took about 10 minutes to install the springs.

Here is the product code if you want to order it from Brownells.

I think we should post a tip of the week to help others out. Perhaps, a sticky so people can see it on the top of this forum.

I have so many AR parts...I figured I'd use what I had in my stash. I replaced the Royal Arms pistol grip with a Magpul MIAD grip this evening. The Royal Arms grip is nice, but only RH shooters can use my rifle. I have friends that are LH, so I decided to go to the MIAD grip so they can shoot my DPMS.

Hmmm....I wonder where you found that out from Aub?

Only downside to the JP Spring kit is it will not set off some hard military primers. However, not using the supplied hammer spring will fix that issue and still yields a better trigger when combined with the remaining springs. Add some JP trigger grease (Rydol) and combine with a very non-invasive, non geometry altering sear polish and it gets even better.

Actually, I've had the JP springs for a while...I just never installed them because I had the RRA NM triggers in the AR's.

I put one spring set in the DPMS, not that I minded the factory trigger. It does feel nice and smooth.

JP triggers/springs rock. They were made for 3 gun. You can get down to 4.5lbs using the "15 minute trigger job" as well.

http://www.sargenthome.com/15_Minute_AR_Trigger_Job.htm

By sending your whole lower to JP the trigger can be dropped down to true match quality.

With my Jewells I can get to 2.5lbs, but you pay for that.

P.S. Remember "National Match" gear is made for CMP work. That means the trigger of service rifle MUST be 4.5lbs or greater. "National Match"is not really that close to full out competition gear.

The 15 minute trigger job works very well, and I've used it, but I hate trimming springs or bending them (because it weakens them) so I tried something different. I get a lot of flak for this tip from the FM procedure only types because its not the "standard" manual procedure, or costs $80 plus , but its worked for me, my brother, brother in law, neighbor, and everyone else I've done it for. So give it a try, you might like it. If your stock trigger is just a bit heavy, drop one leg of the hammer spring UNDER the trigger pin instead of both legs on top of the trigger pin. No changing out of any parts, lightens up nicely and I and many others have had no problems popping the primer on ANY ammo we've used. Makes a stock military trigger feel pretty damn good. Gritty triggers need careful polishing tho, and thats a whole different topic.
