Default NO SMITHING SKILLS AND GORILLA GLUE

Bought a new tomcat a while back and was practicing a draw from a back pocket when I noticed the rear sight had dislodged from it's channel and would not stay put where it was supposed to be. The schematic that came with the gun showed no part such as a locking pin, etc. to keep it in place. I posted a thread (on another site) asking for help but got zero responses. I fixed it by taking my pocket knife and scraping the finish off the channel bed, dampening it with a wet Q-tip and then put the rear sight back in place. Then, using an insulin syringe, injected some gorilla glue under the sight. I pulled the squeeze out off the frame with a q-tip soaked in denatured alcohol. End resut...good as new. Hope I did the right thing.

If it doesn't work you could always go with duct tape.

If the glue doesn't hold you can get Loctite in green that will wick along the seam at your local Auto Zone.

That Gorilla Glue is some of the most amazing stuff I've ever seen.

I have an acoustic guitar, that broke at the neck, where all the tension from the strings goes.

A few guitar shops told me it wasn't fixable, or it was, but its cheaper to get a new guitar.

A few other guitar shops, and a bunch of people, told me to just throw it away, or use it as firewood..

A quick trip to Home Depot, and $15 later, my guitar is back to life, and it even keeps in tune!!!!

Default EXFLYBOY

the tomcat is a beretta .32 autoloader that is no bigger than your wallet. The rear sight rests in a dovetailed channel and was tight as a drum out of the box. I was really surprised when I saw it almost ready to drop off the slide (one of those aw sh*t moments). I centered the sight in the channel as it was before and will check it out tomorrow at the range. Wish me luck. BTW..what did you fly?

If it isn't in the right spot, or if the glue doesn't hold, knock the sight out and stipple the bottom of it with a center punch to raise up a little metal. That will generally tighten it up in a loose dovetail. You can also peen the dovetail, but a mistake there leaves you with a slide you can't get the sight into. Always remember, dovetails drive out left to right and in right to left as you look toward the muzzle.

Thumbs up GORILLA UPDATE

Just got back from the range after putting 50 rounds of hydroshock through it. Sights were spot on and stayed put.

Yes, that gorilla Glue is some awesome stuff!...

Why, back in the days when we used to peen a dovetail down, I got into a terrible wreck with my Ford F150...the right front wheel was torn off in a collision with a Delta 88...

We were able to tow the 150 back to my house...after about six bottles of Gorilla Glue, we were able to get the wheel back on the Ford and I drove the truck for another 70,000 miles on the repair.

The Gorilla Glue tasted aweful, but you do what you can when all the liquor stores are closed.

If it worked to hold the sight, great! Over the years I have done everything from peening to sliding a sheet of micro sandpaper under the offending sight...

Sliding a sheet of sandpaper under an offending anything sometimes works...
