Default M1991-A1 series 80 Colt

I am looking for a gunsmith in southeast pa around Delco preferably, that might be able to do a high beavertail, a hammer, and trigger on my Colt
M1991-A1 series 80 pistol. Does anyone have any recomendations?

Thanks.

Call Colt..............

Their turn around time is in the 40 day range and their work is pretty good.

I had them do a beavertail and someother mods to my Gold Cup and it came out great.

You can also just ship it to one of many fine places around the country, such as Robar, Wilson Combat or Les Baer. I use Robar and Wilson personally while one of my best friends prefers Les Baer, but I understand your desire to conduct business locally

I will also agree here. Myself and friends of mine have used EGW quiet a few times. Not the fastest turn around, but well worth the wait.

Is it too late to put my 5¢ in?

EGW in Quakertown, FTW. As others have said, go see George. His shop is top-notch, and the customer service is great.

If you are interested in EGW, then one suggestion from my experience. Visit them, since they don't return calls.

I was trying to contact EGW a short time ago about welding and rebuilding a series 70. They sent me a return message saying they were not taking any work unless it was estimated at a minimum of $300.

EGW does do good work, but thet have a very slow turnaround. If you are ok with shipping, have Gary Natale at Gans do the work http://www.gansguns.com/

His quality is on par with anyone else, and he will turnaround the gun in less than two weeks.

I would think that you will spend that by the time you do the guts... He is worth the extra few bucks and is one of the few competent 1911 smiths that you will be able to get work done with. Most top 1911 smiths are years out on work. You might want to check Garthwaite also and see if you can get lucky...

George also makes very good 1911 parts that many other top smiths use in their build.
