Question Barrel Polishing Question

A guy at work wants to polish the part of his barrel by the ejection port and the barrel tip (about a 1/2 in.) to give it a stainless steel barrel look. He wants to do this on his Glock 17. I advised him against this. I told him to just go buy one. I told him he may cause rust problems or ruin the teneifer finish. What do you think?

Just tell him to shoot a bunch of bullets, it will polish all on its own. Those are wear marks on older more used guns.

Now if he wants to start a new fad, tell him some people get those gold plated! Watch him spend more money

Tenifer is a treatment that penetrates the metal, so even if your friend polishes the barrel the tenifer will still be on the barrel. I am sending my Steyr pistol to Tripp Research to have it hard chromed. Like the Glocks, my Steyr pistols also have the tenifer finish. The hard chrome will add another layer of protection.
