Here's my home defense firearm...
A Remington 870 Police Magnum with blued finish and walnut furniture. I added the factory magazine extention, which was originally parkerized, but had it refinished blued. (It's not quite as polished as the barrel, but it's close enough for me.) The last thing I want the bad guy to think before he gets 00 buck in his chest is... "Damn, that's one classy shotgun!" ![]() This is my first attempt at taking gun pics... sorry for the poor quality. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

There's something about wood that really makes a gun look classy.

Other than no dimples, what makes a Police Magnum different from the Express Magnum?
Nice wood, btw. |

That's a pretty sweet piece. I love my Wingmaster and I'm probably going to go with an 870 for home defense too.
I think I want this one though:

There seem to be a few variants to the 870 for example, I own the 870 tactical magnum. I've added the Surefire 618FA Foreend (as seen in the last posting) and a TacStar Side-Saddle Shell Holder. The 870's are extremely reliable and I can't say enough good things about them. That is a nice looking Police Magnum. Sorry for the intrusion being an out-of-stater (Kansas) but, I like looking at other peoples ideas.

But that is one nice piece! Is that available as shown? |

If the shotgun pictured is not set up as shown, the foreend is very easy to install. The forend is made by SureFire and I ordered and installed one on my 870 Tactical Magnum. Youy have to break the shotgun down far enough to take the stock foreend off, then you use a tool that comes with the SureFire Foreend to remove the foreend retaining collar. Swap the foreends and use the tool to install the retaining ring on the new foreend and reassemble the shotgun. If you have taken an 870 apart a few times for cleaning, etc. and the whole process takes 15 minutes tops. It's very easy to do. The SureFire Foreends come complete with everything and costs about $250.00. I found mine on ebay new in the box for $180.00. I'll post a picture or two before too long.
