That's D-Day there on the Ruger; Hoover has all the pistol mags on him; Flounder has the homemade stock back there on the AK; Otter's got the G3 in the background 'round the other corner - that's Otis Day (of the "Knights") there with the CAR16.

Yeah, the continuity is OBVIOUSLY pretty bad, and they're taking some SERIOUS 'creative liberties' with the story. That's because the director is Senor Spielbergo - Mexico's greatest non-union equivalent of a director...

Mustn't be much cover around either since they are all packed into one spot to hide. GRENADE!!!!!!!!!!!

Heh. Welcome to Rio. This shiznit is an everyday occurance form what I gather. For all I know this isn't Brazil, but it sure as hell could be...... I haven't been there (Rio) yet, but I understand that its one of the few places on earth where some of the gangs outgun the Police special response units!

My understanding is that they get their guns from the same brokers who provide guns for WAR, i.e. they are armed with military grade assault rifles, medium machine guns, RPG's +holy FUCK! and explosives like Russian hand grenades and c-4 or Semtex! Even the lowest level street hooligans have access to shit that our gangbangers struggle to get. Going up there is an adventure. I talked to a guy who would rent hotels that faced the slums (eveyone wants to look at the beach, not the slums when they get a hotel in Rio) and watch the firefights at night. Alot of these officers arm themselves because their departments don't provide enough ninjagear to keep them safe; hence the Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree look of their SWAT units! A warzone to be sure - some nights its safe, and some nights it's bring your tank night.

IF the photo is indeed real, not only do I think that it is not funny, but I think those of you that have the balls to comment on a guys stomach or gear that he more than likely bought with his own money to have SOMETHING, have no room to talk. Yeah, TV, makes USA swat and tac teams look great, but it is no bed of roses. I don't care what the guys look like, I just know that they disregard their lives to protect the citizens of the place they live for a piss poor paycheck. Most of you guys who laugh would piss your pants and go home. You may have a CCW or taken some "tactical" classes, and you may even have some pretty "tactical" gear, but until you are in some shithole with guys with guns on the other side, you have no room to talk. I'll be honest - even as we're all sitting around having a laugh about it (and some of the posts have made me split my side laughing at them - I hope mine had the same effect on someone), I was actually thinking the same thing.

No need to apologize, Jules - I suspect, that when it all hits the fan here someday, and somebody snaps a picture of some REAL AMERICANS, trying to take back the country - on Anyblock, USA, that somewhere down the road, maybe someone will look at that picture, and yuk it up about all us rubes and our "gear" and "looks," too.

Anytime you HAVE to pull a gun - particularly as Law Enforcement officers, regardless of where it may be - against the bad guys - who may well outgun you AND 'out-gear' you, it's certainly no laughing matter to them, and those they're TRYING to 'protect & to serve.'

Yeah, some of our Monday morning armchair commando quarterbacking, from the relative safety of PA, US of A, is JUST that; combine it with a buck-fifty, and it should get us a small cup of coffee at most any Mickey D's along I-80... and little else. I laugh now, because I HAVE the luxury to do so. May I have their same fortitude & determination - REGARDLESS the odds OR the ridicule - to stand up & do the same thing for myself, my family, and my fellow AMERICANS, in the hour of trial & truth...

Well, before all, let me introduce myself:
I am a brazilian citizen, and I live in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo state.
I've been lurking on your forums for quite a while, and all I can say is that I'm green with envy . Here in Brazil it's almost impossible for a citizen to own a legal (notice the bold legal) gun, so I just come here to drool on yours :P


Well, about that photo, I can almost certainly say it isn't from here. Our LEO don't use that kind of gun, and I believe there is no supply of it's ammo. It's most likely from another country in South America, since some of their polices do use them. And yes, "police" in portuguese is spelled "polícia", almost like in spanish, "policia".

And I do agree with ar15jules. Our policemen really risk their necks everiday against growing violence, using shitty gear (sorry about the bad word) supplied by our government (if they want to use any decent equipment, they gotta buy it themselves), and are absolutely underpaid (some as low as R$ 1.000,00, around US$ 500,00).

So yes, I do think most of them are heros. Of course, there are those corrupt ones, but most of them do their jobs as best as they can.

Lastly, I apologize about my terrible english. If there's something you want me to explain or rewrite, just tell me.

Also, I didn't mention it on the original post, but when I said " that kind of gun", I meant the AK's. AR-15's are quite common among our police groups.
