Hard to tell from the photo but the "spiral" barrel may be carbon fiber wrapped or "ersatz" carbon fiber.

The carbon barrel. Is it as good as the steel one?

Thumbs up Re: 10/22 Target

Pukindog-actually it's Ghillie Green Hogue overmold-check your monitor color settings lol

Norm- the spiral finished stailess steel barrel is a Ruger factory model T barrel. It is as accurate as any aftermarket barrel you will find in the $200 range. I love it cept for the weight. Great for shooting offhand and unsupported but not so good for hauling 'round the woods plinking. The CF barrel is just as accurate if not more so. Volquartsen has a top notch rep for accuracy and I LOVE to carry this thing on hikes and plink at random targets at my deer stand out of season to practice range estimation, angles, etc. I ran some Wolf MT ammo thru the SS awhile back and was grouping ~.5" @ 50 for 10 rounds but I didn't have the stock bedded, internals worked over or anything else-dead-nuts straight off the shelf. Haven't picked any match ammo up lately to see how it has improved w/ the tweeks but the CCI mini mag HPs are pretty consistant w/ inch/inch and a quarter groups at 100. I am looking to sell the CF barrel to buy another Vol. CF barrel for my 77/22 so i can swap it back and forth between the 10 and the 77(a 10 only fits a 10 but a 77 will fit a 10 also w/ a spacer on the shank...) If you are interested, shoot me a PM. Any more ?s, please feel free to ask, I love to get people hooked on these fun little guns! lol -Max

I love my 10/22 carbine. Got it for my niece, but I've been shooting it alot more then my other gunz lately...

Its no under nickel @50yds, but it can do silver doller @ 50 with elcheepo ammo all day long.

I could do alot smaller if I ever spend some money for trigger job. 10/22 is great plinker, but stock trigger just fall short...
