Default Sig P220 9mm

I added one more P220 to my Sig collection. It's a 9mm that was made in 1983. It's got the European magazine release. It looks like it has less than 20 rounds through it. The original box (powder blue with red insert ... fugly!!) and papers came with it. I was looking for a P220 9mm with an American magazine release is this condition with no luck so far, but this one was too clean to pass up.

That 220 is in real nice shape for it's age. I diddn't know they were ever made in 9mm. If you don't mind my asking, how much $ was it?

Beautiful P220. 9mm was the original P220 caliber. Everything else pretty much followed. I had one similar in .38super and still regret parting with it.

JBubba57 is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Sig P220 9mm

I have three of the Browning BDA Sig-Sauer System (p220 European) 9mm's. One is "9mm Para" on the barrel and the 2 mags, and the other 2 are "9mm Luger" on the barrels and mags.

How is your Euro p220 9mm marked?

I actually prefer the Euro release models as they can take both American and European mags (American model can take only American mags) and the mags don't accidentally get dislodged while shooting due to side button bumps, although removing the Euro mags is slower and more physical. (Blindref, no offense, I know you know this, this is just for discussion for those that might not know it; you were the one who helped me with info when I got my first Sig, one of these 9mm's. Thanks.)

Like DBZ220 said, the P220 was original designed for 9mm. They were also chambered in .30 Luger, .38 super, and .45acp (mainly for the US market).
The P220s chambered in .30 Luger are the toughest ones to find, followed by the .38 super.

JBubba57-
Glad to hear you are happy with your Sigs. So, you are up to 3 BDA's? Looks like you have the bug as well
My barrel is marked "9mm Para"

The strange thing about this P220 is the slide is marked "Exeter NH"

In 1983, Sigs were being imported by Interarms and then Tysons Corner.
Herndon Va. followed Tysons Corner sometime around 1988. Sig didn't set up shop in Exeter NH until 1990.
I suspect this gun was made in 1983 and sat around in Germany until sometime after 1990. It's hard to say how long this gun has been in the US. This is the oldest dated coded Sig that is stamped "Exeter" that I've seen.
