BSA Martini Cadet

This is my latest, a BSA Martini Cadet, made about 1916. I got it from Doc's Gun Barn in Pocatello Idaho. It is now chambered for .32 Win. Special and is a hoot to shoot.

It was originally chambered for the .310 Greener, which is in the same class as the .32-20. It was loaded with a heel type bullet, and groove diameter is
.320", which is close enough for .32 Special. The inevitable catch is that the .310 cartridge was loaded with 110 grain bullets, so the twist is too slow to stabilize 170 grainers. I solved that one by using bullets meant for the 8mm Nambu. Look funny, shoot great.

Hi, I just accuired a BSA Martini Cadet today. I know very little about this rifle. It looks very much like yours. The serial number is 556*. The barrel is stamped 310 12-120. On the top flat of the barrel where yours is stamped
32-, mine is stamped **. Could you tell me about when this gun was made and what the *'s on the barrel mean? Any other info would be appriecated.
