Rand,
I love my Cx4 dearly. I would personally go for the .45 or .40 caliber if I had it to do over again, thought. At the time I already had a couple 9mm pistols, which are very cheap to shoot. I do NRA style sillouettes with my storm, and hit the rams all day at 100 yards. I mostly use it for plinking, if you believe that ![]() I'd say go for it, it's probably one of my favorites. Just plan on spending some extra coin on the rails, barrel shroud, sling, and some sort of optics. (though it's dead on with the factory sights)

I just purchased a new CX4 Storm, .40 SW. I took it to the range and shot about 300 rounds through it. Very nice, and accurate out of the box with no accessories.
I would reccomend it. Enjoy! |

I have had my CX4 in 45ACP for about 1.5 years. I have 10 mags for it. The biggest complaint I have is the mag capacity... I have 9 8rd mags and 1 9rd mag.
I have the top and side rails. The design for their attachment is very very poor and I have had the top rail sheer off the top screws and beretta charged me $23 to ship me 2 screws and nuts... The carbine is damn fun to shoot, recoil is negligable, even girlfirend likes shooting it. People at the range don't believe its a 45 when they see her taking the recoil well and hitting targets. |

Just took my new Cx4 Storm .45 ACP out to the range. I must say, it's a lot of fun to shoot. We were in a shooting bay so I don't know how far back I was and will follow-up on how it shoots at 25, 50, and 100 yards when I get back to try it out.
So far it's pretty accurate. Probably more-so than I am. I plan on getting a bi-pod like Doug. I want to get a sighting system on there as well but EOTech might be a little out of my range. I was using the default sights. Both people I went with enjoyed shooting it a lot. My only complaint is that WWB is now $29/100 for .45 ACP. Now I understand why they crappy 8 round mags, you can't afford to load up any more. lol.\ Lots of fun, no problems. Very cool to take apart and swap ejection ports, etc. I wish there were larger mags available.

I take it that it's because it's a .45? I saw the 20 rounder above, but that was a 9, right?

How much does one of these run in 9mm?

There's a pretty good range on the price. Generally, the top and side rails are accessories and add 75 or more to the price of one. They can be had in the 600 range without any rails.
There's also a 9mm for sale in the firearms section with the rails, 4 mags, a case, a strap and some sort of optics. here at $700 even. To be completely honest, if you're in that price range, I'd be thinking of getting an AR15. There are some pretty good deals out there though. I don't think they're quite worth $700 as they're listed most places (except tricked out the the ad linked above) because the rails are so expensive, then extra mags and a strap and case, etc. They bring the cost up quite a bit and into AR territory for me. Not to discount the ease of disassembly, interchangeability of magazines and using pistol calibers. Here's a 40 S&W Cx4 below 500. The rest of their Cx4's are >$690 EDIT: Here's another classified 9mm Cx4 Storm for $625 with rails and hardcase Another for $475

This is my first post here, so I figured I'll share some pictures of my new Px4:

One of the primary advantages of a pistol caliber carbine is that it uses the ammunition that you already have on you. Particularly if you are carrying the Cx4/Px4 combo in the same caliber, where you can use the magazines interchangeably. Rather than carrying around a bunch of magazines and ammo for two different kinds of guns, you can reduce your load because your sidearm and rifle can work together. So there is efficiency gains there... The longer barrel of a pistol-caliber carbine also offers greater accuracy and higher muzzle velocities than a pistol in the same caliber. It can also be fired more accurately because of the shoulder-stock. Pistols also use much heavier bullets than rifles, so presumably you get the added benefit of delivering more mass into the target. If you are working in close quarters, it isn't as important to have a light fast bullet that can travel far. |
