Default 1943 Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1

Just got it a few months ago, saw it on the shelf with a K 98 as it's neighbor. When I grabbed the fore-stock to pick it up, I knew right then we were'nt parting. Even if she was an old dinged-up rifle that was 65 yrs. past its' glory. Hell I figured as long as the bore was good than why not. My buddy chuckled as I told him my intent. He was thinking I ought to pick somthing more common. You know Brittish .303's are'nt what you'd call cheap ammo.
I did'nt give two shits what he thought as I pulled back the bolt. Needless to say I instantly took it to the counter. Off to lay-away (LACK OF CASH) it went I went home for the night could'nt sleep that night nor the following day. So I gave in and scooped it with plastic money. As I left a fellow patron asked what I had, "Lee Enfield" I replied. He ecouraged my choice by telling me "That...is a straight shootin' gun. I smiled as I left yet frowned when it hit me SHIT... I gotta tell dad! (Living with the folks still) He let it go suprisingly only stating that I have keep the ammunition out of reach.

Well, taking it out for a try was FUN! The man at the gun shop was right...Straight as an arrow...but stupid me I found out that corrosive surplus ammo is well....CORROSIVE! It sure was 'fun' cleaning that up.

In the end though, she's back to new... stripped the whole damn thing and turned every screw. Each part solidly blued up nicley. Got a scope and bipod but took em both off, I feel they diminish its' glory. Though it only cost just over $200 and is'nt an infamous "T" sinper variant It sure makes me happy.

Sorry if I wasted your time, that how I feel!

Beautiful Enfield.
I always liked them.

They saw battles on pretty much every continent.
There is a lot of history that comes with them.
Congrats, and have fun with it.

They are great rifles! I just picked up a NEW unissued No4 MK1 for 190 two months ago, All matching #s to boot,,, Now I have too many enfields.
And I am wondering...
"Infamous T stamp"
WHAT does that mean,,,
I actually have a well used one which is a T stamp, It nees the stock from yours to make it look right!
Peter.

Nice.
The FWD sling mount should be attched to the middle barrel band mount.
