Default Ak-47

Hungarian FEG SA-85M AK47 7.62x39 Considered by some as one of the best AK's out there. Its my only AK and we bought it because I too am from Hungarian stock, but nobody is saying one of the best out there . It has been a real pain making this thing 922r legal but it looks like all is finally close to being done. 2K Rounds of ammo are finally confirmed on the brown truck after a 3 month back order.

That's a beautiful SA-85, Phillyd2. Where did you get the furniture?
My SA-85 has the thumbhole stock (which I do not like) but the stock is as nicely blond as yours. That's the only reason I've not changed it.

I too had a butthole stock - check out this guy to see if he has any left:

The hand guards are original and the new butt stock was redone with some 0000 Steel Wool and a few coats of Boiled Linseed Oil.

If you go this route don't forget you need to change additional parts to make it "legal".

Nice AK, Hungarian is good stuff.

Why? If the stock is foreign and you replace it with a USA part your fine. If the replacement is foreign your still fine.

Maybe I missed something...

the SA85M is a post 89 import, and came in with a thumbhole stock.

Since he started off with a thumbhole stock, thus 922(r) parts count rules hit ya when you change it to a pistolgrip and seperate stock.

So if he added a foreign stock and a USA pistol grip he should be fine correct?
