Default My new FN 9mm

I picked her up on the way home from work! It an FN Herstal FNP-9M 9mm compact. It's a really nice looking and feeling pistol. I can't wait to do the initial cleaning and take it out to the range! Now I need to find a holster for it. I'm thinking of ordering a high noon holster because they have one specifically made for the compact version while most others do not.

P.S. Please forgive the quality of the photos as my camera is not that great. I've been meaning to get a new one.

Nice! Post a range report when you get a chance to exercise it.

Do those Sharpie markers come with the camera or the gun?

I see that a lot in handgun pics and NONE of my gun cases have a slot for one and my Kodak didn't come with one either! Gonna have to get on the phone and start complaining!

Seriously, nice pistol!

Good luck with your holster search. There are a LOT of good makers out there. Start searching online.

Little Joe: I will post a range report after my first outing with it.

Emptymag: I'm surprised the case didn't have a slot for a Sharpie...it has everything else. The gun, lock, three mags, alternate backstrap and a small sealed manila envelope with something inside. Without opening it, it took me a second to figure out it was a shell casing from a test shot.

Gonna clean it this weekend to get all of the packing oil off of it. I'm thinking of calling Danny's to see how much his range time costs.

dmg1969,

Obviously you are going to carry you FN since you asked about a holster, but had you considered a weapon mounted light? (Home defense) I notice that your FN, like so many newer handguns, has an accessory rail. I bought one for my Glock three years ago. It's an M3 LED Tactical Illuminator by Insight Technologies.
http://www.insightlights.com/product...oduct.asp?id=5

It's really well-designed in that you can use your index(trigger) finger to rotate the switch for the main light to the "on" or "momentary" position while holding in a shooting grip. I got the one with the LED (adds about $40 to the price) and it's great for illuminating a room with a soft red glow that doesn't affect your night vision like a BRIGHT light can. (It's nice to have options)

I like the fact that it removes instantly if you want to use it in your weak hand. (or when the flashlight in the "junk drawer" has dead batteries during that power outage!)

I paid $120 for it in '04, but it should have been $160. The vendor gave me the wrong model. I meant to buy the NON-LED ($120) and when I got home I noticed the mistake in my favor, called him to see where to send the extra money to as I decided I liked the LED and was told to keep it "for being so honest." (That vendor has a repeat customer by the way)

Just something to think about.
I rarely tell someone how they "should" equip themselves, I only offer info on things that I have found to be helpful myself.

Have fun with that FN!

You know...that's funny because I was thinking about getting a tactical light for it down the road. I did buy it mainly as a carry gun, it couldn't hurt to equip it with a light for at home.

I have a feeling I know the kind of light it would put out. My brother bought me one of those non-battery shake to charge flashlights as one of my Christmas gifts. I always thought they were junk, but its single LED bathes the whole room in a soft blue. And you wouldn't want to look straight into that single LED either...not nice on the eyes.

I'll have to save up some money for a tactical light. I have a few other items on the list before that though. Mainly, a new table saw because mine blew the motor and a band saw. I'm trying to start a part-time business making trinket boxes and the table saw is a must.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I hope to post a range report tomorrow or Sunday. I called the Game Commission and they said that the pistol range on 944 in Cumberland County is open, so I'm going to go out while the wife goes out with her friend.

P.S. I settled on the Skin Tite holster from High Noon Holsters and ordered that today.
