Default another krag

picked another 200 dollar krag up this morning.
it's a cut down 1898 rifle, from 1904...was also drilled and tapped.
the stock it is in however, is an oddball.
towards the end of production, they had to pick a few more stocks up. so they aquired some italian walnut to finish the run....this is one of those 13,000 something stocks....and is a propper carbine stock
the American black walnut developes a deep reddish-brown when finished, teh italian goes to a light yellowish-tan color.

and it's new stable mates.
these others actually are carbines.

it was refinished when it was sported. the wood does have terrific figure though.

it even came with a pretty nice kerr no-buckle sling....that a 1917 eddystone is now sporting.

Looks good brian. Now I just need to find a day off to get myself up there, and have a look around.
