'new' krag
picked a new krag up thursday.
an 1898 carbine, made in '98. only 50somethousand of these were produced, before switching over to the '99 carbine. so it turns out it's something of a rarity....to bad the barrel has been dovetailed for another rear sight. thought it was 'just' a 99 carbine when i looked at it in the shop. it goes well with the other carbine i have, a model 1896. as a side note, these are considered carbines, but when compared to what we call a rifle now, they're only about an inch or so shorter.
