thats a bushmaster copy of the Russian AK74 brake.

You probably cant get it off since its pinned and welded on.
your upper is a post ban version, as evidenced by the lack of a bayonet lug.

to get the brake off you need to find the pins (on left and right side, easy since the weld metal took a different park color) and grind them down close to the threads.
then heat the FH to break the thread lock, and CAREFULLY work the brake back and forth until the pins back out.
Remove them with a pair of needlenose pliers, then just thread on a standard FH.

I've done brake removal in this manner on several Bushmaster uppers, from 11.5" to 20" in 308, its easy.

I got a lot of stuff for on mine at the leesport show this weekend, the quad rail and everything on it I got this weekend, and I picked up a rock river lower parts kit for one of my other lowers and a ergo grip

What kind of scope is that? The one I have is too big for comfort, accurate as all hell, but not comfortable at all.

its a BSA sweet .223 3-12 when I get my next build done its going on there and my red dot will be going back on this one.
