I can tell you its a lot of fun. They divide the classes into 8 groups. First, they divide by caliber, .257 and up and .243 and smaller. THEN they divide by military and sporter, then again by open/iron sights and optics.
If your email is in your profile, I can email you the range rules. If not, feel free to PM me and I can get them to you. Open sights seem to have it a bit easier... they shoot at 10 inch steel plates at varying distances... my best guess is 30 - over 200 yards. Optics of ANY kind, including red dot or eotech type sights (even without magnification) shoot at 5 inch plates. You carry everything you need, a total of 22 rounds shot possible. There are 9 stations, with 11 targets. You go through with at least one other shooter who acts as your spotter. Also with you is a range guide who scores you. You get two shots at every plate. If you hit it on the first shot, all the better since you are scored on total shots/total hits. If you miss any plate twice, you move to the next target. Your really have to know your rifle's zero. The last two are man sized plates with "X ring" in the upper torso and head area. I have shot the course with my AR the first time through and last time with my M1 Garand and my AR. They made the course well, lots of work went into it. |

There are ammo restrictions... no armor piercing or incendiary rounds (including tracers) Other than that, no restrictions on rifles or ammo. Most everyone I know uses FMJ. I have seen people shoot everything from M1 Carbine to SKS, Mini 14, M1 Garand, AR 15, FAL, Swiss K31, Mosin/Nagants, sporter rifles, you name it, they shoot it.
Come on out! Even if you cant find someone to shoot with, their pair you up with at least one other shooter plus a guide. I have met some very nice people at the last three shoots. |

just got back from the shoot. GREAT TIME!!
i suggest anyone nearby to try it. just have to remember to bring more guns next time, or at least more ammo!!! (not missing as much would probably be another good alternitive )mike, there is a "shoots" or "competition" forum on here, maybe posting the rules + times there would get the news out? |

Will do, Sean.
Nice to meet you, thanks for coming out. When I get home I will get the rules posted somewhere on the Competition forum. It stinks you didnt bring enough ammo to go around again. You know for next time though. The seconed time through that Pete guy shot a 1903a3 - we were tied for first place in military iron sights big bore when we left, but there were 4 other guys shooting in that class that just began shooting. I'll see next month how I did.
