Default Lancaster LTCF Story

Just wanted to share my LTCF story -

I've had my LTCF for 5 years - issued in York County 5 years ago - I just came up for renewal - I live in Lancaster County now - so I went to the courthouse and picked up an application - they asked me if it was for a new permit or a renewal - I replied renewal - They asked to see my permit - I showed it to them - they said "what is this?!" then realized it was issued from York County -

The Clerk told me I had to apply for a "new" permit - I didn't argue and took the application to complete at home - I completed it and answered it honestly - including the additional attached forms that asked what township I resided in and if I had ever applied for a LTCF before and whether I was approved or denied - I selected that I had applied 5 years ago and was approved with a permit issued by York County.

I dropped the appliction off - Clerk again told me I had to apply for a new permit - he changed my answer (saying I had never applied before) and initialed the change - Got my permit today - (about 2 weeks later) - And on the top right of it there are 3 boxes (new, renewal and replacement)- "New Permit" is checked instead of "renewal"

All in all - Lancaster was fast, friendly and cheap $25. Plus the permit is much nicer than my old laminated one. But am I wrong to think that my permit should be a renewal? Also, they let me keep my "York" Permit - which hasn't expired yet - So technically I have two LTCFs - Till my "York" Permit expires in a month. Anyone else have this experience?

New or Renewal really makes no difference.. You still have to go through the same background and character checks, and also provide the same info.

Same thing happened to me. I had a non resident from lebanon county. Then I moved from NY to chester county PA. same deal new license not renewal. Very quick and helpful I think 5-7 days. 46 bucks pics lamination everything.

Blows NY away. compare 46 and 7 days to NY 6 months and a few hundred bucks plus a restricted license and with out it you cant even touch a handgun in NYS.

Count your blessings boys.
