i carry 1 extra mag in my pocket. when i can conceal it i carry 2 mags in a folbus holster.

for those of you who don't carry an extra mag, what happens if you have the mag in your gun fail or jamb?

I carry the ammo box only because I rent a room and not an apartment. I do not have a large gun safe and there are kids in the house. All the guns and ammo stay with me. Things are getting much better so I hope to have my own place by spring.

I've carried a 380 with 7+1 with no extra mag and now I carry a 9mm with 17+1 and no extra mag. So in my mind, I'm now carrying an extra mag + 2. I'm comfy with it.

1911 w/ 6+1 and an extra mag on my person. I keep an extra loaded mag and a box of HP's in the car as well. I started doing that after I forgot to throw the extra mag in my pocket once....that way if I forget it, I still have a spare.

you may want to look at the Wilson mags, they offer an 8 rounder for officers/compact size 1911's, unlike using a regular 8 round mag these have a stop on the floor plate to prevent stuffing the mag in to high. I carry a 7 round wilson mag that fits flush with the grip and one or two 8 of the 8 round mags as reloads, can never have too big a mag when you carry single stacks...

If I carry my Glock 23, I usually have a spare on me and one in the cartruck,
If I carry my Kahr P9, I carry two in my front pocket (they're small).

Since I generally carry my Kahr in an Ankle holster, there are times I carry both.
